You know you're simple slight seductions spin me out of control
Cause it's hard to see the evil when you're not wearing your clothes

I'm thinking about doing a little Demonomicon for Vigilante City, which would include succubus stats. Anyone interested in something like that?

This is a unique OSR game that is both familiar and really refreshing. Personally I'm really looking forward to the Kickstarter exclusive boxed set.

To get a taste of the game and what kind of horrors Josh and I have in store for you, check out our first unofficial monster for it, The Unicorn Knight.

The Deep Blue

I snagged a few books when I ordered my C.H.U.D. shirt from Exalted Funeral. One of them was The Deep Blue. It seems like a fun and simple game (coming in at only 24 pages).  It uses a Twitterbot, so there's no GM prep. Your group decides a setting and then as a group allocates 15 points to three different resources (health, livelihood, and tools). During encounters you'll wager resources, roll d6's, and track said resources (some of which are private, while others public). The goal of the game is the most simple and oldest goals... survive.

Whisper City Pro Wrestling

Hey nerds, we got some gonzo postapocalyptic smack to lay down!
Whisper City Pro Wrestling is a post-apocalyptic wrestling game by Cuss World Books & Games. I recently ordered it from Exalted Funeral and I'm so happy I did.

Still a playtest, The book is a less than 50 page soft cover release. The covers are in color and the interior is black and white. The book has a really quirky art style that can be seen on the cover. The art reminds me of Superjail! and is really fun. The game also share's an aesthetic with a toy line I loved as a kid, M.U.S.C.L.E. I think I might actually try to pick up some of these figures to use as minis for the game. There are actually some limited edition resin figures like this made by Cuss World. Check them out here.

The setting takes place in the last bastion of civilization, Whisper City. Whisper City is a mid sized city that could be any small city that existed in the shadow of a bigger one. A great example city they author mentions is Akron, Ohio (which is also where Cuss World is based). There's not much to do in the city, except watch (or if you're character, participate) in wrestling! Because of the apocalypse and all, the borders between dimensions have weakened, which has affected things dramatically.

The game uses the mighty (and underutilized) d12! This is used for everything. Character creation is random. You roll a d12 and your bio-type is determined. They are human (1-6), animal-grown up (7-9), cryptid (10), demon (11), or unfathomable (12). The strange of these is the unfathomable, which is basically a human body with an inanimate object head (like The Tick's Chairface Chippendale). After this you determine the type of wrestler  you are. You have an equal chance of being a Muscle King (classic 80's strong wrestler), Technician (the best actual wrestlers), Showstopper (high flyer), or Brawler (street fighter). Each bio-type and wrestler type comes with its own special abilities, moves, and perks.

The game includes wrestling rules (obviously), but the game isn't just about what happens in the ring. In addition to creating events, the dungeon master, will create scenarios to let their players get into all sorts of hi-jinks in the city.

I've read through the book a few times and hope to run it soon. If you like odd games and/or wrasslin, you can get your copy here.

O is for Orobos

Orobos is a beautiful fiend that appears as a human/horse hybrid. While not a divine being himself, he has a connection to the divine essence tied to all gods and goddesses. He is also one of the more helpful of Hellish nobles, granting favors and acting as a mediator.

Movie Night Review

Full disclaimer, the author had a post on Facebook asking for folks to give the game a look and I was sent my copy at no cost.

Movie Night is a game for the 3D System written by Peter Fran. The storytelling game is designed to be played out in an hour or two, just like a movie. If you're looking for something longer though, you can extend adventures together to make a Season.

The system is really simple. The players take part in Scenes and try to stop the Bad Thing. The simple d6 is the only die rolled and you describe what you want to do, roll a die (potentially with advantage or disadvantage) and add the associated trait. Characters in this game are kids, possibly teens, and very rarely adults. Their traits are connected to this.

The book includes several premade adventure ideas based on classic movies like ET, Jaws, The Last Starfighter, Goonies, and Gremlins. There are also a few alternate settings included, which have their own special traits. These let you emulate other very 80's things like My Little Pony and Masters of the Universe. The book also includes a movie generator. The book ends with a fully fleshed out adventure that's ready to go.

While I'm not always the biggest fan of storytelling games, I've fallen in love with this one. It's a very simple system, but lets you play a wide variety of things. The author designed it to get his daughter playing games and the game works perfectly if that's what you're going for. As a youth services library, I can't wait to use this with the kids and teens at my library. This is perfect for clubs and things of that nature. It's not as math heavy as some games and sessions should be less than 2 hours.

If you're trying to introduce gaming to no folks, I highly recommend this one. All versions of the game are pay what you want on DriveThruRPG. You can also grab it from Lulu.

N is for Nybbas

Though born into fiendish nobility, the demon known as Nybbas is considered a buffoon and charlatan among Hell's aristocracy. Despite his social status, he has a vast knowledge of dreams and their meaning. Additionally, he's tied into the skein of fate and can see glimpse of the future. J is for Justuscias

I couldn't find a good demon for J from the Dictionaire Inernal, so I'm using a different demon (Amduscias) and just changing his name to a J one.

Justicias is a grand and formidable duke of Hell. His natural form is that of a unicorn, but he can transform into a man/unicorn hybrid if  he wishes. He often uses his natural form to frolic in the mortal realm with virginal women. While ultimately evil like his brethren, he never harms the maidens and takes special care of his favorites (though this care can be brutal to those that disrespect or harm his ladies). He can command musical instruments to play on their own. He can his music to bed trees and summon familiars. Again despite his evil nature, he is on friendly terms with many nature deities and fae lords.

Creature Collection Blu Ray

I've talked about Stranded before. It is an upcoming bigfoot movie by Shawn Burkett and Concept Media LLC. Shawn is the man that directed the fantastic flick, Don't Fuck in the Woods. Currently Stranded is seeking funds via an Indigogo campaign. It's a flexible goal, so even if they don't reach it, they will get all of the money pledged. That being said, let's help make this film the best it can be.

Personally I'm at least going to go for the blu ray steelbook. I love steelbooks and I want one with a bigfoot print on it. I like some of the other collectibles too, so I might go for a few of them too. I recently one a cast of the bigfoot prop from a live auction they did a few weeks ago.

If you're new to Concept Media's work, I highly recommend the perk level pictured below. Forty-five dollars plus shipping is an amazing price for these movies. I've paid 20+ for my copies of Betsy and Don't Fuck in the Woods (which are both signed special editions). The flicks are fantastic indie horror pieces and great gaming inspiration (especially for things like Dark Places & Demogorgons, World of Darkness, or Dark Streets & Darker Secrets)

The Blackest of Deaths Kickstarter

The Blackest of Deaths Kickstarter launched earlier today. This is the newest Kickstarter from Bloat Games and I'm really excited about it. Apparently other folks are too because it met its 1500 goal in two hours.

With this game Eric has taken classic rules, simplified, and put a nice twist on it. If you want to get a nice taste of what the game is like, check out the Sneak Peak. It's free and gives you everything you need to play the game. Of course it doesn't have all the content of the full release, but it has rules, 2 races, 2 classes, 2 monsters, and magic items.

If you want to expand the Sneak Peak a bit, you can borrow some from my The Blackest of Deaths posts. Here's content I've created for the game:

Beastmaster class
Deathstalker (NPC)
Voltan (NPC)
Pig Faced Orcs

Mark Craddock is also creating over at Cross Planes:
Dogman

Did I mention that The Lone Bards are writing the first stretch goal? Josh and I will be statting out 20 new monsters for the game! Check out this stretch goals list. It's a who's who of the best. Josh and I are honored to be among these gents.

Finally I created a monster in honor of National Unicorn Day. A link to the pdf can be found on The Lone Bards Facebook page.

Vigilante Files - Amazon

This past weekend, Josh and I dropped the sixth installment of Vigilante Files. The Amazon is a new class for Vigilante City that lets you play a mythical warrior in an unfamiliar land. I was heavily inspired by Jonathon Linneman's Light City Amazon (and got his permission to borrow and adapt a few ideas). I'm seriously proud of this class guys. I think it is the best bit of Vigilante City original content I've made.

You can download the Amazon here for only 1.99.

F is for Forcas

Appearing as an almost nude man with a long beard and white hair, Forcas is a knight and general in the service of the King of Hell. Despite his somewhat unruly appearance, he is a calm and serene warrior. He's also quite eloquent. He imparts knowledge of herbs, precious stones, logic, aesthetics, palm reading, pyromancy, and rhetoric. He is also able to impart the knowledge of turning one's self invisible. Finally, he has a magical ability to find lost things and treasure.

E is for Eurynome

The gnome-sized Eurnome is one of the fiends that vies for the title of Prince of Death. He eschews the finery of some infernal nobility and wears a fox skin. This fur covers the constantly ooze sores that cover his body. He is often associated with death by disease and loves feasting on carrion. Intelligent ghouls and ghasts sometimes worship him. Those ravaged by disease and physicians seeking cures have been known to call upon him for knowledge of pestilence.

Galaxy Gopher's Pizzeria

Galaxy Gopher's Pizzeria is my contribution to the Pamphlet Dungeon Jam. It's an adventure site with hooks for Vigilante City. It's goofy but dark. It's also free (well technically pay what you want).
