I've been a Green Lantern fan since I was a kid. When I was in elementary school Kyle Rayner was introduced and he became my Green Lantern. As I got older and I started reading older GL comics. While I like Hal, after Rayner, Killowog and Guy Gardner (yeah I'm a Guy Gardner fan) became favorites as well. While it seems strange and convoluted at times I'm also a fan of the different Corps. So I decided to make a PL10 M&M 3E/DC Adventures character tied to the Corps, but not a Lantern (which is hard to do at PL10).
I'm still coming up with a detailed orign for Spectrum (I named him before I realized that Marvel already had a GL pastiche named Doctor Spectrum). Here's what I've got so far:
He's a young hero that has a variety of powers based on DC's emotional spectrum. I've built him with an array. Basically he can be powered by one emotion at a time. While being empowered his mood and emotional state matches the part of the spectrum he's using.
He's also an ancestor of the Legion of Substitute Heroes member, Rainbow Girl (who I didn't know about until researching ideas for this character.

Quirk - Emo: Avery's essence is tied into the emotional spectrum. He is easily caught up by the emotion tied to the power he is using.
Secret - Krona's "Child": While the other Corps suspect Avery's ties to the emotional spectrum, only Kyle Rayner and Hal Jordan know that Avery was created by Krona.

Awesome.
ReplyDeleteDoes he have all the rings or just the powers?
My boys want to do a Lantern Corp M&M game sometime.
He doesn't have any rings just powers related to the various Corps.
ReplyDeleteI decided to come up with powers based on the emotions of the spectrum, but not necessarily what the Lanterns of that color have. The exception to that is the Indigo Tribe (Compassion) which I wasn't sure what to give them (because I'd already given healing powers to Hope). That's why he can teleport while using Compassion because that is an ability of that group.
I did want to give him flight and life support though, that way he could be used in a cosmic Lantern game. I also thought about figuring out some sort of power (maybe a feature with the tiring flaw) that allows him to act as as a living Lantern, giving him the ability to recharge power rings at the cost of tiring himself.
After creating spectrum I found out about the Wildstorm pastiche to the Lanterns, Lamplight (http://indigotribe.wordpress.com/2010/10/27/the-blue-lanterns-of-wildstorm/). I really like his design and want to create some sort of related character based on it. If you do a Lantern game for your boys, maybe you could come up with some sort of cool character based on the Lamplight design. I'm sure if anyone can, it'd be you.
I was wondering how would i make one at level 1?
