The Good: Overall, I like the way the Djinn looks. The actor that portrays him, Andrew Divoff, does a nice job. Three horror movie icons of the 80's and 90's appear in this movie, Tony Todd (Candyman), Kane Hodder (various Friday the 13th movies), and Robert Englund (A Nightmare on Elm Street). Of course, all are killed. I also love the use of Middle Eastern mythology. We've seen many European myths and legends turned into horror flicks, its nice to see some from other cultures.
The Bad: These movie is pretty cheesy. The effects are definitely dated. The acting is average. There are no Academy Award winning performances here.
Final Thoughts: This is an average monster movie of the 80's/90's. While I don't always like reboots, I'd love to see a reboot of this franchise starring Arnold Vosloo (The Mummy, GI Joe).
In Your Game: The plot of the adventures published in the Buffy rpg's are basically Wishmaster. The big bad is the Djinn. If you want to run a game with elements of Wishmaster, I can't recommend those adventures highly enough.
