Synopsis: On Halloween 1963, six-year-old Michael Myers killed his sister and was locked away. Fifteen years later, before being transferred to a court date, he escapes and heads back to his home town. He spies teen, Laurie Strode, and begins to stalk her and her friends.
The Good: John Carpenter is a master of suspense and horror. His shots are creepy and the film's score is fantastic. Jamie Lee Curtis is phenomenal as one of the original final girls in horror.
The Bad: I know this is probably a more modern critique, but Michael Myers is boring compared to other slashers. The back story around his is fantastic, but he's just kind of a faceless, silent killing machine. The boogeyman needs to have more presence.
Final Thoughts: This is the first time I've watched the movie in its entirety in one sitting. It was entertaining and I can see how it set the precedent for later slashers, but ultimately it's kind of a dull flick.
In Your Game: This probably isn't much of a surprise, but I'm statting Michael out for your Dark Places & Demogorgons game. He's not superhuman, just an effective stalker and killer.

Michael Meyers survived being shot multiple times with a .357. It's possible the good doctor missed but it seems a bit supernatural.
ReplyDeleteGood point. I made him a bit tougher based on your comment.
