Saw Week - Saw V (2008)

Synopsis: Despite the death of Jigsaw, the killings continue. Lieutenant Mark Hoffman, Jigsaw's other apprentice, has been promoted . Unfortunately for him, special agent Strahm is hot on his trail.

The Good: The game's participants in this installment were interesting. There games were clever and though I caught onto the twist rather early on, I think it was well done.

The Bad: I don't like Hoffman and this is the film he takes center stage as the villain. John Kramer was a twisted, but principled character. While early tests were related to vengeance, there was a purpose and they were fair. Hoffman breaks the rules and seems like much more of a villain to me. That bothers me because they movie is about following the rules.

Final Thoughts: I really enjoyed how this fleshed out John. Even if the series felt like it started reaching out at something by this point, I was still entertained.
