The new Kickstarter by Planet X Games, An Occurrence at Howling Crater launched earlier today. As I've mentioned before this Kickstarter is for a grindhouse 5e adventure that sounds like a mix between Expedition to the Barrier Peaks and The Hills Have Eyes. The 100+ page adventure for levels 7-9 will include the following:- three floors of a crashed alien ship and the horrors contained within
- Gristletown - horrific shanty-town and home of the brutal mutant cannibal Wotts clan
- more than a dozen sandbox encounters for all levels
- fleshed out deadly encounter areas
- two dozen plus new magic items and tech devices
- the Trope Mechanic is back
The project has is about 41% in less than 8 hours and is running through August 6th. The are several great and cheeky stretch goals. While I definitely want to learn more about the Wotts clan and where they hunt, it's the William Castle inspired ones that have me most interesting. The first is a monogrammed custom Howling Crater barf bag! The other Castle-inspired stretch goal (which is also the final) will see physical copies coming with custom monogrammed classic 3D glasses and the Kickstarter print run coming with an exclusive image for them.
Trust me, this is a project and publishing that you need to keep in your radar.
