Leopard Women of Venus Pre-Kickstarter Preview

I was extremely happy that Josh gave me a copy of the pre-Kickstarter preview of Leopard Women of Venus. The game is a wild pulp sci-fi setting inspired by the works of Fletcher Hanks. This 24 page zines gives you a great taste of what will be coming in the full book. The zine contains an overview of the four human factions  of Venus (each with their unique game traits), zero level occupations (which includes outsiders), the complete Leopard Woman character class with their unique spell-like abilities and the primary menace of the setting Webra and her spider minions!

The four factions are pretty interesting. They are:

  • Caverns - communist intellectuals and workers led by the Science Robots, Leopard Women are a member of this faction
  • Otram - redneck 'Murica types that are all about Otram and how goddamn baddass the Otram are!
  • Palna - advanced, but superstitious faction that seek to purge themselves of evil to escape the wrath of Stardust
  • Avrok - jungle dwelling hippie types that seek to bread with Lorbats and make snake-human hybrids
The Leopard Woman class is pretty cool. They have a d10 HD and trained in using their unique comet fire helmet. This helmet allows them to use the Comet Fire, Flying Saurian, and Leopard Blood augmentations (which function like DCC spells). They also have Action/Deed die like warriors and get their own special leopard skin armor.

As I mentioned in my Gen Con Recap post, I played in the first session of Leopard Women of Venus. Josh ran a 0-level funnel for his co-author Leighton, Eric, and I. We had some very memorable moments, including Nancy Ann, the psychologist from the Cavern's that wreaked quite a bit of carnage with her phrenology model and scavenged alien polearm before meeting an untimely death. I'm really looking forward to this setting and all the weirdness it will bring.
