Beard or No Beard

Thanks to my good friend, Tim Knight, I've recently discovered Northumbrian Tin Soldier. While looking at their site, I noticed they have several bearded dwarven lady miniatures.

What are you feelings about dwarven women and beards? While it's not common to see in mainstream D&D artwork, I've always imagined traditional dwarven women with facial hair (or at least a nice thick set of muttonchops). Dwarven ladies that shave are beards are rebels (much like Violet in Rat Queens) or those that spend more time with non-dwarves than their kin.

What are you thoughts? Do your female dwarves typically have facial hair?

  1. Pleased to hear you've discovered one of of my favourite figures manufacturers. I tend to agree with you on dwarven women's facial hair - but also can't remember EVER having a PC female dwarf in our group!!!

  2. Depends on the setting and my player's choice. I've never felt strongly enough about it to make it a feature one way or another.

    1. It's never been a big deal in my games, just some flavor I like to add. That being said I don't know that I've ever had a female dwarf player in my games.
