October Horror Movie Challenge - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)

This horror classic is available on Tubi

Sally and her paraplegic brother, Franklin, along with their friends head to investigate reports that they're grandfather's grave has been vandalized. After taking a detour to their family's old farmhouse, they discover a group of cannibalistic outcasts living next door.

This movie is a goddamn classic. Filmed on a shoestring budget, it's gritty, and sweaty, and feels real. One thing I found interesting about this film is though it has this horrible reputation for being gory, there really isn't much on screen gore. Like many of the best horror films, some of the most disturbing scenes actually take place off screen. A prime example of this is when Leatherface takes out his first victim. You don't actually see most of brutality, just the initial thud and twitching.

While I'm a fan of some other films in the franchise, none of them can hold a candle to the original.
