Killer High (2019)

Killer High

Synopsis:

Sabrina has spent every waking moment of the last decade
planning her ten year high school reunion. When the venue she booked shuts down she and her friends decide to host it at their abandoned school. Unfortunately the school is now home to a monster that bears a striking resemblance to the school's mascot, a boar.

Review:

I remember seeing the trailer for this one last year. I thought it looked fun. That being said it is a SyFy movie released by Uncork'd, so I didn't have high expectations. I snagged it for a low price during the Halloween season and thought I'd give it a go. It's actually pretty good, y'all.

The protagonist Sabrina is quirky and annoyingly obsessed with the reunion, yet you learn bits about her that make it understandable. Most of the other characters are like this. They are lovable, but flawed. Honestly, you probably know these people and went to school with them. That really is the charm of the flick.

The gore is really good. Honestly this movie has some of the most entertaining kills I've seen in a while. There are at least two super slow motion/still killing montages and they are gorgeous. Seriously the first of these floored me because I wasn't expecting it. The monster looks good at times and then kind of on the cheaper side at others. However, since it's not a big studio project, it doesn't bug me.

In Your Game:

This premise is perfect for any modern horror game, particularly Dark Places & Demogorgons or Buffy.

Boar Mascot Costume

This vintage high school boar mascot costume (which features a mask made from actual boar skin) has been infused with malevolent energy. Once the costume is donned, it possesses the wearer and transforms them into a boar monster.  The spirit inhabiting the costume seeks to relive its glory days. According to the film, the creature can be killed, but considering the incident has happened before, the costume must be indestructible. At a GM's discretion, the costume can be removed via magical means.
