October Horror Movie Challenge - Blood Red Sky (2021)

Plot
Nadja has a mysterious condition and (along with her son), is traveling to America to get it treated. While over the Atlantic, their plane is hijacked by a group of terrorists. To save her son, Nadja, must give in to the darker side of her condition.

Review
Okay, it's really damn obvious based on the title, poster, and early bits of the film, that Nadja is a vampire. So there's no shocker there. In this setting vampires seem to be able to keep their humanity if they don't find on humans. The film is quite tragic because Nadja must consume more an more blood to gain the strength to protect her son, but in the process she loses her humanity to do so. Peri Baumeister is great as Nadja. She is able to portray a loving mother and a bestial nosferatu. While we don't learn too much about who he is, Kais Setti's Farid is a good supporting character. The terrorists are nasty, as expected, but the worst of them is Eightball. He's the classic psycho in the heist group that goes crazy when things start getting serious. I was honestly expecting Dominic Purcell's Berg to be the main antagonist, but it was actually Eightball that filled that role. As far as effects go, the vampires look great. They don't look too crazy, but it works. They remind me of a mix of the shark-fanged 30 Days of Night Vampires and Nosferatu (at least in the case of Nadja). The movie itself is tense and the claustrophobic nature of the setting added to that. This is a pretty good vampire flick and doesn't really fit into the normal boxes those films do. If you want something a bit different, check this one out on Netflix. The movie itself is tense and the claustrophobic nature of the setting added to that. In Your Game

There are several vampire stats blocks in Survive This!! so I didn't feel like coming  up with new ones. However, there was a new piece of equipment that would prove useful to heroes.

UV Flashlight
This powerful flashlight can project UV rays, harming vampires as if it was the very sun. For every round this flashlight shines on a target, treat that target as if it was exposed to direct sunlight. This item uses a lot of energy and every turn it's used roll a 1d6. On a roll of 6 the battery is drained and must be replaced.

Movie Count
