AFMBE - Stake Land
Tonight I finally got a chance to watch a vampire movie that I
remember reading about a few years ago called Stake Land. The movie takes the
classic post-apocalyptic zombie tale and replaces the shamblers with feral
vampires. It’s currently an instant view on Netflix and if you have some time
you should check it out.
One aspect of the movie I liked was that vampire teeth were used
as a sort of currency and/or symbol of respect. Mister, one of the
protagonists, used them a few times to get into a town or to get goods.
While watching the movie I couldn’t help but think about how the
setting would make a great All Flesh Must Be Eaten game. The game could take the same premise as the
movie. There are small pockets of people living in lockdowns (protected
communities). Players could be wandering hunters or citizens of one of these
lockdowns. They must face vampires and religious zealots (like the Brotherhood
in the film).
Below, I’ve given you my interpretations of the three most common
vampire types. I’ve not statted up “thinking” vamps. Also, towards the end of
the movie Mister makes the comment that he’s seen a lot of mutant vamps. This
is the perfect excuse to add various aspects to the baseline vampire.

These stats represent your “typical” vampire.

Mastermind Monday - Santa's Slay
One of my favorite holiday traditions is watching the horror/comedy Santa's Slay. The basic premise is that Santa is actually the son of Satan and they only reason he's ever done good is that he lost a curling match with an angel. Well the deal is up and Santa is ready for revenge. This movie doesn't take itself seriously at all and in my opinion is great for what it is. There are so many hilarious lines in this movie. If you ever get a chance to watch it, you should. For next week's Mastermind Monday I will post stats for Santa's hell-deer and sleigh.

From the Desk of Leading Man 01
I am running a Wednesday night Mutants and Masterminds game.
The group is made up of She'riedan aka "Danny Jones," an alien prince unfamiliar with his new home Earth (he's sort of a Starfire-esque character), Untara Tachibana aka"Aratnu,"an illegal Japanese immigrant with the ability to shape change into mythic creatures (she said she wanted to be and I quote, "an anime princess"), and the Leading Man, a highly trained former soldier who thinks he's the star in tv series (think a good guy version of Deadpool). We have another player that has made a Raven-esque mystic but she's not been introduced into the game yet.
So far we've only had one mini session. The characters were at the Freedom City Asian Heritage Festival for one reason another when a S.T.U. attacked. They defeated it, introduced themselves, and went their separate ways.
I love my players. I really do. I got on Facebook last night and found this on the Facebook group page I made for the group. I talked to Leading Man and he's going to make this a regular thing. I thought I'd share them on here.

My Dragon Ball RPG Experience
Like many geeks my age I grew up watching Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z. We like to pretend GT and the live action movie don't exist and technically they aren't cannon. They were very flawed shows. I have no delusions to the contrary but still they're a big part of my adolescent years. I watched all of the cartoons, played the video games and card game (which I still have all my cards and get them out occasionally). My high school D&D group even had a home brew DBZ table top that we played for years. It used a heavily modified version of the old White Wolf storyteller system. We still fondly talk about the tales of Dessallin, Dracos, Kuro, and Hartcourt.
Well now we're all nearing thirty and have our own lives but we still like to get together and game sometimes. I've decided that I'm going to run a Dragon Ball game this weekend for them.
So what system? I've got 2 of the 3 books for the official Dragon Ball Z: The Anime Adventure Game. It's the Fuzion system and while I love owning the books, it just doesn't seem like a good system. I also have Big Eyes, Small Mouth 2nd edition, but again I'm not really sure it would work the way I want it to. This leads me to my fallback system, Mutants and Masterminds 3rd Edition.
I think M&M could be used to translate the shows power levels (liking the synergy already). As a test run this weekend I'm going to try to emulate the original Dragon Ball series using PL6. This will allow the guys to make competent fighters with a few techniques.
I'll let you guys know how it goes this weekend. Also, I know I didn't have a Mastermind Monday post this week. Honestly I just have been feeling that well, so I didn't do one. I'll make up for it next week.

The Good, the Bad, and the Cinematic Unisystem
At some point last year I got it in my head that I was going to run a Weird West Buffy game using the setting from the Slayer's Handbook. Well like most of my games it didn't happen. However, I did make a few quicksheets for some of the npc's I wanted to guest star before I gave it up. They were John Marston (zombified and not) and Mr. Nigel West Dickens from Red Dead Redemption. I also made one for Hiram Gummer (Burt Gummer's ancestor that appeared in Tremors 4. I think I did a good job casting Nigel and John (though I think Eastwood is nuts now).
I was looking through my computer today and found them so I decided to post them here.
