D is for Deadite

In addition to the Re-Animator franchise I owe my love to horror (and the particular subgenres I enjoy the most) to Sam Raimi and the Evil Dead. The movies are horror classics and each has it's own charm. Evil Dead is legitimately scary and creepy (with a few comic moments), Evil Dead 2 is slapstick horror (with some legitimately scary moments), and Army of Darkness is just epic. Like everything else the movies are getting a modern reboot. Unlike many horror fans I'm interested in the remake (which opens tonight). The movie looks really scary and creepy. Plus Sam and Bruce are involved in it. Also, I've read that despite denying it for years, the pair are going to make Army of Darkness 2.  In honor of the new film and the remake I've decided to stat out a Deadite, the demon possessed individuals of films..

Deadite

Background: Deadites are individuals (mostly human) that have been possessed by Candarian Demons.

Description: Deadites appear similar to their human hosts. However, the vessels are altered. They often have grey-ish skin, glowing eyes, elongated teeth, sharp claws, and hag-like visages. The most horrifying aspect is that the creatures can appear as they did pre-possession.

Storytelling Hints: Swallow your soul! Swallow your soul! Swallow your soul!

The Evil Dead: Deadites do not heal, nor do they suffer penalties from extreme wounds. They can only be "killed" if all health points are gone and their bodies are totally dismembered or burned.

Swallow Your Soul: Any mortal wounded by a Deadite risks becoming one itself. Wounded mortals must make a Willpower check (at a -2 penalty) every time they are wounded. If they fail the will turn into a Deadite. If the wounded individual severs the infected limb/ cuts out infected flesh they may make one more Willpower check (at no penalty).

    1. Thank you. I loved the old WoD, but I think I prefer the rules for the newer version. I do miss Changeling: The Dreaming though...
