Instead of my typical Ash Wednesday post I wanted to talk a bit about the new Ash tv series. Ash vs. Evil Dead will star Bruce Campbell as Ash. Sam Raimi will direct and Robert Tapert (who worked with Raimi on Xena) will produce. Here's what we know so far.
Ash has retired and avoided hero life after the events of Army of Darkness. Eventually he's brought back into the fight against the supernatural. Joining him are two younger characters, one a male character (which is being called a "male-bonding situation") and a female (which is more father-like). There are fan speculations that the female character will be Mia from the Evil Dead remake. I wouldn't mind that. The series will have the classic excessive gore and slapstick comedy that Evil Dead is known for. Episodes will only be half-hour, rather than the hour which typical of Starz series. However, they are supposed to be "chock-full hours." The series is filming in New Zealand and will premiere toward the end of the third quarter or the beginning of the fourth.
