October Horror Movie Challenge - Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort (2014)

Synopsis: Danny discovers lost family as he inherits a mountain retreat known as Hobb Springs in the mountains of West Virginia. There he discovers his true connection to the area and must choose between his friends and new family.

The Good: The movie starts with T and A followed by a brutal decapitation. That's not a bad way to start a slasher flick.

The Bad: The plot was didn't make much sense. This movie focused way too much on incest. The acting is bad, the characters are forgettable, and other than Three-Finger and his brothers being in it (making this a prequel) it doesn't really have much of a connection to the earlier films. Also, and I'm sure I'm probably trying to understand the movie more than I should, but I thought the cannibals were deformed because of toxic waste. In the film it's just implied that its from years of inbreeding. Also, Hilllicker? The family name is seriously Hillicker?

Final Thoughts: This is the kind of movie I think of when it comes to direct to dvd sequels. It had little connection to the original and was just bad all around. I really didn't enjoy it. However, it's the sixth movie in the franchise, which says people must be still watching these things.

In Your Game: A character with an unknown past inheriting a resort/mansion/manor and learning about his biological families unsettling history could be a good plot hook.
