I Ain't Afraid Of No Ghosts

The Ghostbusters reboot releases in the states tomorrow (well tonight at most cinemas) so I thought I'd share some ectoplasmic love. I'm really interested in the movie. There are things I don't like about it (namely that it's a reboot and not a sequel), but I think it has a lot of things going for it.

West End Games had two editions of a Ghostbusters rpg back in the 80's. From what I've read the system was simple, but enjoyable. Unfortunately, these days copies of the core rules are ridiculously expensive. If you want a fun, simplistic system to play Ghostbusters but don't want to spend 200 dollars for the boxed set on eBay, check out +Jonathan Linneman's Ghosthackers

If Cinematic Unisystem is more your style you can check out David Goodner's Spook Stoppers. I couldn't find the link on David's page anymore, but I've still got a copy on my Google drive. Here's the shareable link.

  1. Thanks for the Ghosthackers shout out! A little secret on the WEG game (which really IS awesome)...you can find scans of most of it over at gbfans.com. I'm always afraid that linking directly to the stuff will cause some Columbia-bot to send them a C&D...probably overly paranoid...but if you just navigate through the Games section, you'll see it.

    1. I may have grabbed the scans for the boxed set and a few of the adventures yesterday. Still I wanted to give Ghosthackers a shout out. I think I'm going to use it to stat out some video characters.

    2. Ah...even bigger thanks then! Hope you enjoy the WEG stuff...it's probably the most entertainingly written RPG I've seen. It tries to be funny, and it actually *is*!

    3. I think the Army of Darkness RPG book is pretty funny too, but in that smartass Bruce Campbell way.

  2. I see the GDrive link for Spook Stoppers isn't working; any chance you can share it again?
