October Horror Movie Challenge - Bone Tomahawk (2015)

Synopsis: An old west sheriff, his deputy, a gunslinger, and cowboy go on a undertake a mission to rescue townsfolk taken by savage cave dwellers.

The Good: Everything about this movie is great. The set pieces are beautiful. The entire cast does an outstanding job and there's some real character development. Every western needs Kurt Russel. I propose that until he's taken from us, he's given at least a small role in every western. Matthew Fox plays the character you're supposed to dislike, but he grows on you. Richard Jenkins plays one of the best supporting characters that I've seen in a long time. Patrick Wilson has a solid performance.

Also, when the horror kicks in, it's quite brutal.

The Bad: There isn't anything bad about this movie. I would note that this movie is mainly a western, with a bit of horror mixed at the very beginning and the last half hour or so. If you don't like westerns, you're going to hate this one.

Final Thoughts: This movie is a fantastic western sandwiched between horror. Seriously, it's the best western I've seen in years. There's just something about Kurt Russel in the saddle that feels right.
