Almighty Thor (2011)

Synopsis: The dark god Loki destroys the city of Valhalla and kills its king, Odin, and one of his heirs, in his quest to attain the Hammer of Invincibility. His youngest son, Thor, is saved by a warrior trained by the Valkyries and taken to Earth. The pair must protect the hammer and stop Loki from bringing about Ragnarok.

The Good: While you can tell he's a new actor (that's not really done much since from my research), Thor is a likable good looking character. He's brash and whiny at times, but this version of Thor is younger and full of emotion. As a wrestling fan, I thought it was cool to see Kevin Nash as Odin. Finally the linnorn looked pretty cool.

The Bad: This acting and effects were definitely not the greatest. There's literally no reason for Thor to fall in love with the Valkyrie, but they do fall for each other and confess their love for one another. Also towards the end Loki just starts shouting "Ragnarok!" as he destroys things. Richard Grieco is definitely no Tom Hiddleston.

Final Thoughts: This is a film by The Asylum. Those are the folks that make the Sharknado flicks and the various mockbusters that come out (this being one of them). It wasn't a good movie by any rights, but it has a sort of weird charm to it.

In Your Game: I've recently had an idea of using Full Moon Entertainments properties to create a Vigilante City for a game I'm going to run. After watching this, I think it might be even more fun to steal from The Asylum too and create a setting that's familiar, but still pretty different.

The Hammer of Invincibility
This mythic hammer is one of the most powerful weapons in the universe. It deals 2d6 damage, grants its wielder a +10 to Toughness and ignores all toughness possessed by those struck by it. It causes unimaginable property damage when used in civilized areas.  It is the only thing in Nine Realms that can kill the Tree of Life.
