Plot
A gamer named Hutch inherits a new game when his childhood friend passes away mysteriously. He and his friends try the game out, but soon learn that if you die in the game... you die in real life.
Review
I have a soft spot for this flick since it first came out. As a gamer, I appreciate the early reference to Fatal Frame. The cast is likeable enough. Jon Foster is nice vanilla protagonist. My two favorite characters are Frankie Muniz as the autistic Swink and Jimmi Simpson as Phineas, the sometimes crass comic relief.
I was not expecting this to be an Elizabeth Bathory flick, but it is. The film changes her from a Hungarian countess, to a countess in Louisiana. There is a lot of fun lore with this one. While it's never really explained how the game came into being and how Bathory's spirit was able to be tied to it, the plot is good enough for me.

Elizabeth's touch drains 1d4 hit points (and ignores toughness). She gains advantage on all rolls against anyone who has died in the game. Additionally, her touch drains 2d6 to those indivuals, instead of the normal 1d4. She knows the following spells, which are contained within her diary. Instead of spending Con, she spends 3 HP per Con cost.
Minor: Blind, Curse Aura, Darkness,
Major: Blink, Mind Control, Pull Under, Worst Fears
Elizabeth has weaknesses. She hates mirrors and will take an action to destroy them, rather than attacking. Additionally, wild roses cause her to flee, she cannot abide by them and will flee from them at her full speed. This will cause the rose to decay.
Bathory's Sheers
These ornate silver sheers are tied to the bloody countess. They deal 1d6 damage and can affect incorporeal creatures as if they were solid. Any damage dealt to living creatures cures the wielder that amount.
