B is for Bookworm

Bookworm is a ridiculous character and I had to use him. He first appeared in Top-Notch Laugh Comics #43.

Gadgets/Tech/Equipment

Exploding Book - Hidden within these books are small explosive devices that are either triggered by a timer or trigger. When the book explodes each creature in a 20 foot radius sphere must make a Dexterity saving throw (DC 14). A target takes 21 (6d6 damage) fire damage on a failed save and 10 (3d6) fire damage on a successful one. These books can be used as ranged weapons 5/20 feet range.

Poison Book - Anyone touching the pages of this tome must make a Constitution saving throw (DC 16) or take 36 (8d8) poison damage on a successful save and 18 (4d8) poison damage on a successful save. If this damage reduces the target to less than 0 HP, it additionally gives them a failed Death saving throw.

Background

Though he's always loathed people, A. Bookworm spent a majority of his life working in the public library. The misanthrope probably would have just worked his job until he died had he learned that there was a copy of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island that contained a cypher that actually led to a buried pirate treasure. Bookworm devised booby-trapped books using his great intellect and became a rare-book thief. He has has yet to succeed in his task and has been brought to justice a few times by the hero, Web-Archivist, who hates to see a bad librarian. While at Bonne Nuit, Bookworm has provided tactical guidance on missions, though his frail form keeps him from actually serving in the field. Joining King Killer in his recent breakout, Bookworm serves as the advisor the for the would be conqueror in his Kingdom of Crime.
