Plot
When the crew of a ghost hunting tv show lock themselves in a reportedly haunted mental hospital overnight things go terribly wrong.
Review
The movie is basically "what if the crew of Ghost Hunters investigated the wrong location." Much like the Blair Witch Project before it this film claims to be actual footage. The film begins with a producer explaining that Grave Encounters was a show for his network. Five episodes were filmed. The movie we watch is the edited footage from what would have been the sixth episode. In many ways this is stock found footage affair. There wasn't anything really unique about it. There are a few moments of overt supernatural events and they are CGI, These scenes would have definitely been improved had practical effects been used. That being said it was an entertaining flick (if you don't mind found footage style).
Your Game
The Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital would be a great "dungeon" for a modern game (horror or otherwise). If you want to include ghost hunting in an OSR game, particularly a SURVIVE THIS!! game, I highly recommend Dark Places & Demogorgons - The Ghost Hunter's Handbook. You can read my review here.
