Synopsis: Jeff Philips discovers that he's the last living descendant of HP Lovecraft and the only man on earth that can prevent the return of dread Cthulhu.
The Good: Jeff, Charlie, and Paul are all fun characters (even if they're cliched). The deep ones and hybrids looked pretty cool. The animated tale of Cthulhu and his war against the Elder Things was pretty awesome.
The Bad: The plot is silly and the acting is definitely B, at best.
Final Thoughts: I enjoyed this one. It's not true to the tone of Lovecraft's work, but it's a nice tribute.
In Your Game:
Deep One Hybrid (2 Point Quality)
Someone in your bloodline has had the misfortune of getting down with a deep one and living to tell the tale (or undergoing a transformation ritual). The good news is you're a good swimmer, the bad news is you're probably not going to stay too pretty and and those bad dreams aren't going away). On the plus side you gain a +2 to Sports, the ability to breath underwater, and Natural Toughness (due to the slippery nature of your skin). On the negative side the call of Cthulhu never goes away, giving you the Reoccurring Nightmares drawback. In addition you gain -1 level of Attractiveness (though many Deep One Hybrids have much more than that).

OOO! I will have to check this out!
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie was a lot of fun.
DeleteThis one has tempted me several times (I think after searching either Lovecraft or Cthulhu on Roku), but it's always looked too silly to pull the trigger. I'll probably give it a shot now.
