October Horror Movie Challenge - The Love Witch (2016)

Synopsis: In hopes of finding true love, a young witch decide to move into a scenic Victorian home owned by a friend in California. She soon becomes infatuated with several locals and uses potions to gain their affections.

The Good: Despite the fact the movie came out just a few years ago, it looks and feels like a 60's flick. It was cut from the negatives on 35mm film. It's got a quirky sense of humor and nice eye candy.

The Bad: This film is slow and really odd. It definitely has feminist leaning and that will bother some folks (though it doesn't bother me at all).

Final Thoughts: This movie does a great job discussing and critiquing gender roles in relationships. It was interesting and looked pretty, but ultimately I got a little bored with it (though I think this was just my mood when I watched it).

In Your Game:
Love Potion
Love potions are nothing to be trifled with. Once imbibed the drinker must make a successful Mental (or Magic if you're using Vigilante City) saving throw or become obsessively in love with the brewer (or individual the potion was brewed for). The drinker will ache to be with them and will fall into deep depression or mania if ignored (ignoring their own well being). The only way to heal this love sickness is for another special potion to be brewed.
