Like most of the films I watch for the challenge, this is free to watch movie on Tubi.
A young factory worker, Yoji, does his best to start a romance with a fellow worker, Sachiko. He finds a strange insect/machine and takes it back to his apartment. After taking Sachiko back to his apartment she is infected by the insect machine and turned into a necroborg, essentially a bio-mechanical mech for an alien. He is saved by a mad man who's daughter has been infected. Unfortunately, after explaining what the aliens are, he turns Yoji into a necroborg. However, through shear will, he is able to partially stop the transformation and keep part of his self. Ultimately, he realizes to save Sachiko he must kill her.
This was on Tubi and I thought, "What the Hell?" I've never really watched many Japanese splatterpunk movies. The whole aliens turning folks into weapons thing kind of reminds me of the (relatively recent) Parasyte anime series.
So this movie is a horror flick, but not in a scary sort of way. It's more just really unsettling and gross at times. The tentacles of the necroborgs infecting folks were very off putting, as were the shots of the aliens inside the human hosts. Also, the scene that Sachiko gets infected plays out like a hentai flick because they alien penetrates her and there are some sexual sounding moans.
All in all, this was a movie with some interesting ideas. Not really my thing, but I didn't hate myself for watching it.
