October Horror Movie Challenge - Motel Hell (1980)

Plot

Vincent and his sister run a motel in the country, but make most of their money by selling their famous sausages and fritters. The secret ingredient has something in common with Soylent Green.

Review

"It takes all kinds of critters to make Farmer Vincent's Fritters."

If you want a fun dark comedy, this is a great 80's flick. Iconic actor, Rory Calhoun, does an amazing job as Farmer Vincent. Nancy Parsons is great as Vincent's eccentric sister, Ida. In a lot of ways this movie is a comedic take on Texas Chainsaw Massacre. It has some gross and creepy moments, especially Farmer Vincent's garden, but things are played up comedically. I sat on this movie for far too long and hate that it took me so long to watch it.

  1. This is one of my favorites and it's funny without begging you to laugh the way bad "funny horror" does. EXTREMELY game-able. Good call, Justin!
