Six-Shooters & Wagons Preview - The Gunslinger Class

After some discussion I'm contemplating turning Six-Shooters & Wagons into a full fledge alternate version of Swords & Wizardry Continual Light. There's definitely enough material and I have enough ideas to justify the change. If I make the change it'll take longer for me to release it. For that reason, I thought I'd give a preview of one of the new classes.

In a lot of ways, gunslingers are glass cannons. Sure they hit hard and fast, but they have magic-user hit points and can't take too many hits themselves.

Gunslinger
While they might not be as tough as a professional blue coat, nobody wields the irons quite like an honest to god, bonafide gunslinger.

  Level                      HD                           BHB                         Save

1                              1                              +1                            15

2                              1+1                         +2                            14

3                              2                              +3                            13

4                              2+1                         +4                            12

5                              3                              +5                            11

6                              3+1                         +6                            10

7                              4                              +7                            9

Gunslingers are proficient in hold outs and pistols.

Quick Draw: Gunslingers are faster than lighting on the draw. When determining initiative, the gunslinger's party gains a +1 bonus. This bonus increases by one at 3rd and 6th level.

Back up: Eventually gunslingers learn that sometimes it takes more than your trusty iron to save your life. At 2nd and 4th level they can choose another weapon to gain proficiency in.

Two Gun Kid: At 3rd the gunslinger learns to fire two pistols a turn. They have a –5 penalty on the second attack.

-------------------

Also, these guys would be perfect two-gun pulp heroes if you want to go that route in Light City.

Light City - Dan Hibiki

Dan Hibiki is an unusual Street Fighter character. He started out as a joke poking fun of Street Fighter's rival, SNK's Art of Fighting. He's a weak fighter and the butt of a lot of jokes. Despite this, people like me started loving him. He's an arrogant fighter who does really have much skill. Still this doesn't stop him from fighting. He even has his own fighting school, the Saikyo-ryu (strongest style).
You can learn more about him here.

In a Light City game I'd use Dan as a comedic, encouraging, but inept wannabe mentor for new heroes.

Dan Hibiki
Level 2 Brawler
First Appearance: Street Fighter Alpha (1995)
Str 13           Int 10
Dex 15 (+1) Wis 10
Con 13         Cha 15 (+1)
2 HD (10 HP) Save: 13 Movement: 12
AC 8 [11]
Attacks: 1X Unarmed Strikes, +2 to hit, 1d6 damage

Monsters of Mayhem #1 Review

I recently received my pdf for backing +Mark Taormino Monsters of Mayhem #1 Kickstarter.  I backed this project and have proof-reader credits for it.

Check out this cover. It's flippin' sweet (if you're okay with cheesecake art).

This manual of monsters is full of 48 beasties. If you've read or played through any of the Maximum Mayhem Dungeon adventures (and you should btw), then you'll recognize things like blue trolls, casket creep, and little green bastards. There are also several new monsters that are familiar if you're a fan of cinema. Here's a run down of my favourite monsters in the book:

Block of Hungry Flesh - This thing is just so fricken' gross. Ever wonder what happens when you mix the alien from The Thing with a gelatinous cube? Neither did I and now that I've seen it I can't unsee it.
Demonia Gigantica - Giant sexy demon.... though it's a frightening thought I think all of my games need this.
Lagoon Creeper - It's the Creature from the Black Lagoon. This is definitely a necessity in D&D, because that guy gets shafted compared to a lot of Universal Monsters.
Nightmare Warriors - Roving bands of blood thirsty undead warriors.
Plague Bunny - These bastards are deceptive. They look like cute little bunnies and then they explode and cover everyone with diseased viscera. That's metal af!
Tiny Terrors - Remember the windmill scene from Army of Darkness? Oh yeah!

The stats and background for all of these beasts are solid and entertaining. In addition, the artwork is fantastic. Since this is an OSR monster book, it can pretty much be used for any version of D&D with little work. Personally, I think these monsters would be great additions to Crimson Dragon Slayer.

All of Mark's adventures feature quotes from adventurers. This time, the monsters have a few words. I know this is random, but it's a nice touch.

Okay, now that I've praised the book I do have a few things to say. I am disappointed by how long it took Mark to finish with this one. The Kickstarter delivery date was July of last year and we just got the pdfs, this month. Honestly this is a trend I've seen from his past few kickstarters. At this point I pretty much expect things to take an extra six months to a year. Don't get me wrong, Mark is a great guy. His books are all well-written and entertaining. I know he's busy.  I just think he should maybe push his delivery dates back a bit.

Okay all of that aside, you should still go grab this one. You can get the pdf or pre-order the book here.

While you're at it pick up his other adventures:
Hanging Coffins of the Vampire Queen
Secret Machines of the Star Spawn
Villains of the Undercity
Vault of the Dwarven King

Light City - Soultaker Sword

Here's a new Light City item inspired by Suicide Squad. It also fits perfectly in a traditional Swords & Wizardry Light game.
Soultaker sword - This magical katana grants gives it’s wielder a +1 bonus to hit and damage. The souls of those killed by the blade are trapped within it. They can never be returned to life or pass on while the blade exists. The wielder can communicate with them.

Draw!

The rough draft of Six-Shooters and Wagons is done. I've got a few folks looking over it. As of now it's 5 pages. There's a page of rules, one and a half pages of new classes (gunslinger and scout), a half page of weapons and setting specific items, and a page of critters and folks to send against your posse and the OGL. Once I get the notes, I'll make revisions. Hopefully I'll upload it to OBS by Friday.

Now we wait.

Grab Yer Six-Shooter and Saddle Up!

I'm working on a short Western hack for Swords & Wizardry Light/Continual Light. I'm calling it Six-Shooters and Wagons (because as far as I know, that name hasn't been used). It will be a bit more substantial than Slashers & Victims Lights, because there's more content to discuss and is based more on Continual Light than Light.  It will include some house rules (a few of which have been borrowed from The Assembly). There will be new rules for healing (since magic using classes are optional in the genre), weapons (guns, guns, guns), and two new classes. The gunslinger will have lower hit points than a fighter, but high attack bonus with guns. The scout will be a sort of nature oriented thief (and have a moonshiner optional class).

After I finish this I'll probably do some the Justice Rider-inspired  Light City content I mentioned before.

I'm going to watch some of my favourite westerns and play Red Dead Redemption for inspiration.  I also found this at Dollar General earlier and picked it up. Keoma sounds bonkers in a good way and I love Lee Van Cleef.

Light City - Become the Unliving/Return to Life

In a recent issue of Suicide Squad Enchantress made the Squad undead so that they couldn't be detected by a robot. I thought this was pretty cool and would be a fun Continual Light/Light City spell. The following spells are usable by Magic-Users and Necromancers.

3rd level -
Become the Unliving - Range: Touch; Duration: permanent. The target must make a saving throw. If they fail they become an undead creature. They may voluntarily fail the saving throw. They may be turned as an undead creature of their hit dice. They no longer heal naturally and magical healing no longer works. However, they regain 1d3 HP from every point of flesh they consume.

4th level -
Return to Life - Range: Touch; Duration: Permanent. Target undead creature must make a saving throw. If they fail their flesh regrows, mends, and they become living once again. They may voluntarily fail this saving throw.

Unleash Cobra On Your Light City Game!

The newest Light City Foes pdf is one that I had extra fun making. +Jonathan Linneman introduced me to King Cobra and his organization a few years back in this post. In the post he also mentions that they seem to be very similar to the foes of my favourite military organization growing up. I took that idea and ran with it for this Light City Foes release.

You can download the pay what you want pdf here.

BTW, this is one of the greatest movie intros ever....

Regrettable Characters

Last night I picked up this beauty:

It's a really entertaining book by Jon Morris that is filled with mostly public domain characters. This version is the Loot Crate Edition, meaning it has smaller physical dimensions, but still has all the same content. This morning I found out that this is actually a sequel to The League of Regrettable Superheroes. It also has a Loot Crate Edition, which I just ordered for less than four dollars.

Though I have already statted a few of the characters, my goal (once I have both books) is to do Light City stats for one entry from each book a week until I make it all the way through.

Light City - Ragman Suit

Ragman is a pretty interesting character. Despite the Jewish heritage of many early comic book writers and artists, I can't think of many Jewish characters. The Ragman suit is tied directly into Jewish folklore and that makes it an interesting mystic artifact in my eyes. You can read more about Ragman here.
----------------

Ragman Suit - This patchwork suit is made up of corrupted souls. The wearer gains a +2 bonus to strength, dexterity, and constitution. In addition they can use the knowledge of the souls trapped within. The wearer can also detect evil souls and absorb new evil souls into the suit.

----------------

I intentionally left the actual game effects vague. What does it mean that they can use the knowledge of the souls. Perhaps let the wearer to make a one time Read Language check or cast a specific magic-user spell for plot purposes.

Music Monday - Kirby Krackle - Ring Capacity (with Power Battery item stats)

----------------------

Power Battery - Imbued with power of the emotional spectrum, along with their ring a power battery is a Lantern's link to their corps. The power battery is also the portable power source for the ring. Once per day the Lantern can recite their oath and regain all uses of their Elemental tricks. When not in use the power battery can be stored in a pocket dimension. It takes one round to summon the battery or send it back to the pocket dimension.

Light City - Storm

Since I loved the movie so much I decided to stat Black Panther's queen.

Light City - Captain Boomerang (DCEU Version)

I really wanted to stat out Captain Boomerang for Light City. Currently the only version of the Marksmen class that's available is in Light City: The Assembly! and it just goes to third level. For this reason I decided to state the DCEU version of Digger, because he's not as experienced as the comic book Captain Boomerang.

Captain Boomerang
Level 3 Marksman
Real Name: George "Digger" Harkness
First Appearance: Suicide Squad 2016
Str 14            Int 12
Dex 18 (+1)  Wis 11
Con 13          Cha 12
3 HD (12 HP) Save: 13 Movement: 12
AC 8 [11] (Dexterity)
Attacks: Boomerang (+3 to hit, 1d6 damage) or Boomerang (+4 to hit, 1d6+1 damage, medium range)
Trick Missiles: Camera, Grappling Hook, Stun
Equipment: Two Boomerangs, Pinky (Stuffed Pink Unicorn)

Gerard Way's Batman and Joker

Comic writer and musician, Gerard Way has designed two statues for DC's Batman: Black and White series. I have to say that I really want both. I'll be honest, I'm a Gerard fanboy. I love MCR and his Umbrella Academy and Killjoys comics were pretty damn amazing. Unfortunately I've not read his Doom Patrol run.

Check out these Batman and Joker statues.

Legends of Light City #1 Available Now

Legends of Light City is a new series for Light City that I'll be doing. They are heroes that can be used in your LC games. They're also designed to be used as pre-made pc's.

You can download Legends of Light City #1 here. It's pay what you want.

As a bonus I present you with Lion-Man's archnemsis, Red Lash!

Red Lash

James "Congo" Smith was whip-cracking guide of dubious nature that hired himself out to African hunting expeditions. He had no loyalty to any nation and was recruited by the Soviets to help there superhuman strikeforce enter Challia. When the battle started Smith found himself sounded by a pride of lines summoned by Koroo. The creatures mauled him mercilessly and destroyed his hands. He would have perished if not for the intervention of one of the Soviet scientists. He was taken back to the USSR and given an experimental super soldier serum and insanely strong metal whips to replace his lost hands. Dubbing himself Red Lash, Smith has vowed to see Challia exploited and Lion-Man and Koroo dead at his feet.

Real Name: James "Congo" Smith
First Appearance: Adventures Into the Unknown #11 (June 1950)
AC 7 [12]      HD: 6 (35 HP)    Attacks: Red Lashes X 2 (+4 to hit, 1d6 damage, 10' range) Move: 12

While alive Red Lash will regenerate 1 HP every round.

Black Panther!

Black Panther comes out tomorrow. I have plans to see it this weekend with my lovely lady. If you watch the flick let me know what you think in the comments.

If you'd like to add Black Panther to your Light City game, I gave him stats in this post using +Jonathan Linneman's great brawler class. Also as I've mentioned before in my version of Light City he's a foe of Doom Fist and a descendant of Prince Mamuwalde.

I have a new release coming out tomorrow that's my Light City tribute to Black Panther.

Thor vs. Wonder Woman (With Light City Mjolnir Stats)

I really like all of the fan films I've been finding recently and want to share them. Still I don't want to post just videos and such so taking a cue from +Red Flanagan and his blog, Blood, Death, Satan and Metal, I'm going to include some sort of gaming material with the posts. I went back and retroactively added gaming content to the video posts I made the past few weeks.

I think the video does a nice job of showing what it's like to be a bystander in a comic book universe. Now on to the game stats.

Mjolnir - The chosen weapon Thor Odinson, Mjolnir is an artifact level version of a Thunder Weapon (see Light City: The Assembly). This hammer may only be wielded by those it deems worthy. It provides a +1 bonus to hit rolls and can be swung or thrown (medium range) for 2d6 damage. If thrown it will return to its owner. The were may control storms and fire lightning bolts from it 2/day (treat as Magic Missile). In addition they gain a fly speed equal to twice their normal speed.

Light City Foes: Supernatural Threats Now Available!

This issue of Light City Foes features several occult villains and a dangerous mystic tome. While I have superheroics in mind with this release, it could work well with any Swords & Wizardry Light/Continual Light game. My favourite part of working on this one was discovering a public domain version of the Death Note.

You can download Light City Foes: Supernatural Threats here. As always, it is pay what you want.

February Festivities Bundle by Skirmisher Games

If you have an extra 2.99 you should really check out Skirmisher Games February Festivities Bundle.  It includes 10 pdfs for various versions of D&D (3.5, Pathfinder, and 5E) as well as system neutral material. My favourite among them is Men & Monsters of Ethiopia... a 5E monster supplement that I reviewed here. Printable minis for the book are included in the bundle, as well as several other cool pdfs.

Skirmisher Game is a publisher I don't see many folks talking about, but in my experience they make some great books and the writers are super nice guys.

Liam Neeson's Cupid (Cupid's Arrow Stats)

"That's a kill shot, pal."

Cupid's Arrows (consumable) - These arrows do not do physical damage. Those struck by these arrows must make a saving throw or fall in love. This causes them to fall in love with the first person they see that they could be romantically attracted to (based on their sexuality) similar to the Charm Person spell.

Light City - Black Widow

This is the Silver Age Black Widow. I statted her out to be on par with my Hawkeye stats.

Black Widow
Level 3 Thief
Real Name: Natosha Romanova
First Appearance: Tales of Suspense #52 (April 1964)
Str 13            Int 12
Dex 17 (+1)  Wis 13
Con 12          Cha 16 (+1)

Equipment: Leather Costume, Sniper Rifle

Jaden Smith - Batman (Jaden Smith Batman Stats... because why not?)

This is Jaden Smith's world. We just live it. Not going to comment on what I think of the song, I'll just say the suit looks pretty cool on him.

Batman

Light City - Black Lightning

Though I really want to, I haven't been able to watch Black Lightning yet. If you have, what do you think? He's been another character I've liked for a while. He's a teacher and was the head of the Department of Education under President Luthor. He's was a founder of the Outsiders, a group I really enjoyed reading.

Black Lightning
Level 7 Elemental
Real Name: Jefferson Pierce
First Appearance: Black Lightning #1 (April 1977)
Str 14            Int 16 (+1)
Dex 13          Wis 12
Con 15 (+1)  Cha 15 (+1)
5 HD (33 HP) Save: 9 Movement: 12/24 Fly
AC 7 [12] (Electric Aura)
Attacks: Elemental Strike (+3 to hit, 1d6+1 damage)
Elemental Tricks: Knock/Lock, Magic Missile, Hold, Radial Blast 7/day

Note that while they're both African-American characters connected to DC with electric powers, he's not related to or connected to Static. He actually addresses the misconception the Static is his son in an issue of Justice League. I do think it has been retconned that Virgil was inspired by him though.

Joker vs Joker (Scarred Perk)

I'm starting to dig these fan shorts. There are a few YouTube channels that have some good ones

I can honestly say that I didn't see this ending coming. I mean I correctly guessed the winner, but didn't think it would go down quite like this.

------------

2 Credits - "Scarred" - Once per combat you may attempt to use your battle scars and reputation to intimidate foes with less than 2 HD. The opponents must make a successful saving throw or be unable to act for one round as they are frozen in fear. This makes them vulnerable to sneak and death attacks.

Red Widow, Black Sparrow, or Something Like That... (With Light City Sniper Rifle Stats)

I know this is based on a book with the same name, but I know I'm not alone in thinking that this looks like a Black Widow flick. The director has addressed this. You can read his thoughts here. I guess I'll just have to watch the movie to see if the stories are fundamentally different.

What do you think?

Also you know me, expect to see some Black Widow stats for Light City soon. I expect I'll do some Red Sparrow stats too once I watch the flick.

--------------
Sniper Rifle - This long range rifle does 1d6+1 damage. Characters with Backstab or Death Attack can use the rifle to deliver a Death Attack (as the Assassin ability in Continual Light). Those without those abilities gain the ability to Backstab.

Light City - Vandal Savage

Vandal Savage
Real Name: Vandar Adg
First Appearance: Green Lantern #10 (December 1943)

Vandal Savage is an immortal warrior who started life as a leader of a caveman tribe in prehistoric times. He bathed in the radiation of a meteorite that altered his body and mind, making he intelligent and immortal. He has been a conqueror and killer throughout the ages. He inspired the myth of the biblical figure Cain, fathered Grendel (of Beowulf fame), fought alongside or against nearly every great historical military figure, and (according to Lex Luthor) was the first cannibal.

AC 6 [13]      HD: 7 (36 HP)    Attacks: Sword (1d6) Move: 12

Vandal Savage regenerates 1d6 hit points every turn, even if killed. There is no known way to kill him permanently. He is proficient in virtually every weapon and armor and always has a plan.

-------------------------------------------------
Vandal Savage is a beast! Even if he doesn't have many abilities, what he has will give your players trouble for many sessions. He's the perfect mastermind.

Succubus Sunday - Marvel's Succubus

I didn't realize Marvel apparently has a few characters named Succubus. The coolest looking is a Ghost Rider villain. You can read more about her here.

Light City - Darkman

I think Sam Raimi's Darkman is a forgotten superhero gem. I also think the low level nature of it lends itself well to the OSR nature of Light City.

Darkman
Level 3 Brawler
Real Name: Dr Peyton Westlake
First Appearance: Darkman (1990)
Str 15 (+1)    Int 16 (+1)
Dex 12          Wis 10
Con 13          Cha 14
HD ( 12 HP) Save: 12 Movement: 12
AC 9 [10]
Attacks: X3 Unarmed (+4 to hit, 1d6+1)
Other: Sorry about the furniture

Sythnetic Skin (Consumable) - This artificial skin allows its wearer to look however they want for 99 minutes after exposure to light..

Dr. Peyton Westlake was a scientist developing synthetic skin for acid-burn victims. The synthetic skin can mimic
anything, but becomes unstable 99 minutes after exposure to light. When his attorney girlfriend angers a mob boss, he is beaten, burned with acid, and caught in an explosion. He survives and is hideously burned. He is given a radical treatment that serves the nerves of the spinothalamic tract, which means that he no longer feels pain. In addition, he loses tactile sensation. This gives him enhanced strength due to the adrenal overload it puts on his system. It also mentally destabilizes him.  He begins studying his enemies so that he can mimic and destabilize their organization. He gets his revenge,  but this turns him to the vicious and unstable vigilante, Darkman.

Batman Miniatures Game

Knight Models has a really cool looking Batman Miniatures Game. I'm seriously contemplating buying a couple of different starters (so that I can try it out with friends). I've dabbled in in miniatures games before. Now by dabbled I mean I've bought stuff and never played. Even though I'm in to fantasy, I freaking love comic books and supers games.  For that reason, I have a feeling this one might be different for me. I'm not going to commit too much, but I think it would be cool to try it out.

Now all that being said I really wish I had a hundred bucks to drop on this bad boy.

The starter comes with a rule book, cards, dice, tokens, die cute buildings (which look sweet) and two crews. You get the Suicide Squad and a Joker crew. Here are close ups of the minis. Note that you only get one Harley, she's just in both pictures because she can work with both factions.

My only real complaint is the Suicide Squad includes Slipknot, but not Rick Flag (who can be purchased separately).

Light City - Captain America (Falcon)

Captain America (Falcon)

Level 7 Fighter

Real Name: Samuel Thomas Wilson
First Appearance: Captain America #117 (September 1969)
Str 14            Int 13
Dex 17 (+1)  Wis 11
Con 13          Cha 12
7 HD (36 HP) Save: 10 Movement: 12/24 Fly
AC 4 [15] (Falcon Armor, Captain America Shield, Dex)
Attacks: Captain America Shield (+6 to hit, 1d6 damage), or Captain America Shield (+7 to hit, 1d6 dmg, medium range)
Other: 7 attacks against foes of 1 HD or fewer. +1 on Saving Throws vs. death and poisons, ability to speak with birds
Equipment: Falcon Armor (power armor without long range energy blasts), Captain America Shield (throwing shield)

Redwing
First Appearance: Captain America #117 (September 1969)
AC 7 [12]      HD: 1 (5 HP)    Attacks: Claw (1d3) Move: 24 Flying

Redwing has a telepathic link with Sam Wilson.

Joker vs. Negan (with Negan and Lucille Stats)

I've definitely been in a Bat-mood recently and this was pretty entertaining. Joker's got some nice puns in this. Skip to 4:50 to watch the fight.

Here's a goofy related vid too:

Negan
First Appearance: Walking Dead #100 (July 2012)

Negan is the brutal leader of Sanctuary. He is intimidating and can be a genuine psychopath. However, he can also show mercy if someone seems useful, is open to negotiation, and is disgusted by the act of rape.

AC 7 [12]      HD: 4 (20 HP)    Attacks: Lucille (1d6+1) Move: 12

Lucille - This intimidating weapon is a baseball bat wrapped in barbwire. Once per combat it's wielder may attempt to use it to intimidate their foes. These opponents must make a successful saving throw or be unable to act normally for 1d3 rounds (50/50 chance to be frozen in fear for flee).

Light City - Static

Static Shock was one of my favourite cartoons as a teen. It was well written, had great diversity, and later had direct tie-ins with the DCU. I've read the DC Static stuff, but I'd love to get a hold of the original Milestone stories (along with the other Milestone comics).

Below you'll find the fresh after the "Big Bang" rookie version of Static. He's destined for great things though. As Justice League Unlimited shows he eventually joins the Batman Beyond era Justice League.

Static
Level 1 Elemental
Real Name: Virgil Ovid Hawkins
First Appearance: Static #1 (June 1993)
Str 12            Int 13
Dex 17 (+1)  Wis 11
Con 10          Cha 13
1 HD (5 HP) Save:15 Movement: 12
AC 6 [13] (Electric Aura, Dex)
Attacks: Elemental Strike (+0 to hit, 1d6 damage)
Elemental Tricks: Radial Blast 1/day
Other: Learning to Fly - Able to fly at speed of 24, but must roll 1 on 1d6 to take off or land successfully

Virgil was just a normal geeky high school student until day he found himself caught in the middle of a gang showdown. The police tried to tag the members by using tear gas, unfortunately the gas had been spiked with Quantum Juice. Q-Juice as it's nicknamed is a mutagen that can activate the latent meta-gene inherent to humans. Virgil and many others gained powers that day. Virgil gained electromagnetic powers. Being a comic book geek, he created a costume and became the hero, Static!

Ash Wednesday - Deadites for Swords & Wizardry Light and Light City

Ash needs Deadites to fight, correct? This is a companion to last weeks Ash Wednesday.

First Appearance: Evil Dead (1981)
AC 7 [12]      HD: 3 (16 HP)    Attacks: Claw/Bite (1d6+special) Move: 12

Deadites are rendered inert at 0 HP, but not destroyed unless they are burned or dismembered. If these things do not happen, deadites will rise again with full hit points in 30 minutes.

Anyone bitten or clawed by a Deadite must make a successful saving throw be possessed by a deadite. If the infected area is severed or cut away within a minute, the possession is stopped. If this doesn't happen, the victim becomes a deadite in 10 minutes. While it is possible to exorcise a deadite from a mortal, it is extremely difficult.

---------------------

Netflix recently added a bunch of Batman flicks. I've decided to rewatch them. Last night I watched the original Burton Batman. I remember liking it as a kid and its' held up well. It's still probably my favourite Batman film. One of my favourite characters from it was Bob the Goon. I even had his silly action figure as a kid. I decided to stat him up for Light City, because... well just because I wanted to.

Spores of the Sad Shroom Review

Spores of the Sad Shroom is a quirky OSR adventure. Honestly, it's a pretty rules light so you could use it for about any edition. For example, one of the monsters has "Armor: As plate + shield" and "Damage: As two handed sword." You can get the pdf for 6.66 at RPGNow or a print copy for the same price (plus shipping) on Lulu. I had a discount and free shipping code so I got the print version. It is digest sized, gorgeous, and shiny! The adventure has great artwork (all in the style of the covers below) and clocks in at 16 pages. There are minor spoilers below so if you're going to play this, stop reading.

An entity has possessed the king of the fungal kingdom. This has caused a debilitating sadness to overtake the fungi and it's even starting to affect the surface world. The adventure itself has a map with 11 keyed locations. In addition, there are several random charts related to the adventure and the encounters. Though all have something to do with spores and fungus, each encounter is pretty unique and memorable. My favourite involves the pickled remains of some sort of evil wizards (perhaps Vecna). Also once you complete the adventure, there's another map at the end of the book. It's not super detailed, but lets you expand things.

If you like weird adventures with mushroom people (like me) then you should definitely pick this up. Honestly because the pdf and print version are the same price (minus shipping) I'd spring for the print version. Plus there are always great Lulu codes floating around out there.

The Cursed for Light City Now Available!

I had toyed with making separate classes for ghouls, zombies, werewolves, vampires, and such for Light City, but recently a commenter said I should do one class for all of those creatures. It's really a good idea, so now I give you The Cursed. This could work just fine in a traditional Swords & Wizardry Light game too. You can download The Cursed here. As with all Light City releases I do, it's pay what you want.

NFL SuperPro Follow Up

I found this funny video yesterday after I posted stats for NFL SuperPro. Check it out.

Light City - NFL SuperPro

I decided to stat this ridiculous character because it's Super Bowl Sunday.

SuperPro

Aspiring football player, Phil Grayfield, career ended when he saved a child and suffered a career ending knee injury. Loving sports, he becomes a sports reporter. One day he interviews a sports fan who also happens to be a scientist and inventor. Thieves interrupt the interview and steal a van load of NFL memorabilia. They tie Grayfield up and set the house on fire. He manages to free himself though he's doused in experimental chemicals. He then dons a new almost indestructible football uniform created by the scientist and pursues the criminals. He decided to dedicate his life to fighting crime and dubbed himself SuperPro.

Light City - Azrael's Arsenal

Below you'll find a few more of the items I'm statting out for my Gotham game. They were written for Light City, but definitely work just fine in a regular Swords & Wizardry Light game.

Suit of Sorrow -  This cursed armor grants it’s wearer a –3 [+3] bonus to AC. In addition while worn, it increases their Strength and Dexterity by two. However, it also makes them more violent. When confronted with violence and aggression, the wearer must make a successful saving throw or reciprocate the violence and aggression.
Sword of Salvation - This mystical sword can conjure the truth of things in the wielder and victim. The victim must make a successful saving throw or be unable to act for a round as they overwhelmed with guilt and start seeking redemption in their minds. This sword is capable of striking through an opponent but not actually doing physical damage if the wielder wishes it.

Sword of Sin - This mystical  sword can conjure thoughts of all unatoned sins in those struck by it. Like its sister sword, it is capable of striking through an opponent but not actually doing physical damage if the wielder wishes it.

Light City - Two-Face's Coin

I'm working on a Batman game using Light City content and I've come up with a  new item that I wanted to share.

------------------------------
Two Face's Coin - This scarred coin once belonged to Harvey Dent. The coin allows its user to roll two d20's when taking an action. However, they must flip a coin. If the result is positive they get to use the better of the two rolls, if it's negative they have to use the lower number.
------------------------------

Yes I realize this is a coin that randomly gives you 5th editions Advantage or Disadvantage, but damn thematically I think it's on point!
