It started with slivers, but now it looks like more Magic: The Gathering ideas are intereing my Crypts & Things game. My plan is to use various cards and flavor text to come up with new monsters, npcs, and spells.
I've always been a fan of the viashino. These red creatures are snake/lizard men descended from mighty dragons. Some even seem to have power over the great beasts. I've decided that the snakemen and lizard men of my game call themselves viashino and make a similar ancestry claim. Below is a new viashino npc for your Crypts & Things/Swords & Wizardry games.
Shanktail is an outcast of the Gutviper viashino clan. Unlike his brethren he had no talent for the dark arts. After a dispute that ended with him killing the hatchling of the tribe's high priest, he became a fugitive. For reasons unknown, he was taken in by the mercenary Kando Grimm. The warrior trained him and taught him the mercenary arts. Shanktail now travels the Blasted Lands selling his services to the highest bidder.
