Synopsis: In this reboot of the franchise, a man named Clay is searching around Crystal Lake for his missing sister. He and a group of college kids there to party soon run into trouble when they encounter Jason Vorhees.
The Good: Jared Padalecki and Danielle Panabaker are very attractive and sympathetic leads. Travis Van Winkle plays the perfect douche and Derek Mears is an intimidating Jason (though he's no Kane Hodder). I also that that Aaron Yoo and Arlen Escarpeta did a good job as the likable college kids. I do like that this Jason seems to be more thinking and more of a hunter than previous.
The Bad: While the original Friday the 13th tended to play things straight and serious, there was a weirdness about it that made it quirky. This one is played straight and it really sucks the fun out of it. Other than Yoo and Escapeta give a little humor, but that's about it.
Final Thoughts: There are things I like about this version, but ultimately it falls flat for me.
AC 8 [11] HD: 5 Attacks: Machete (1d6+1) or Bow (1d6, range 50') Move: 12 Special: 3 in 6 chance to Hide in Shadows/Move Silently, Survivors have a -2 penalty to fear saving throws.
Weakness: Jason definitely has mommy issues and a savvy survivor could use that to distract him. If presented by a woman pretending to be his mother Jason must making a saving throw or be distracted for 1d3 rounds. If attacked, he can act as normal.
