Hobbs & Friends of the OSR Zine #3 Review

I recently picked up the third issue of Hobbs & Friends of the OSR Zine. Unlike previous issues, this zine is all DCC.

Halfmen of Hirsute Hollow is a first level adventure that's designed to link the 0-level funnel, Sailors on the Starless Sea to the third party adventure, The Well of Souls. I was fortunate enough to play this adventure with Jason as Judge and Eric Bloat in the party.

The party arrives on a shore in a cave and must navigate a mysterious, seemingly alive cavern, and face the time and dimension hopping Nuliaj Kernib (an anagram for someone's name, but I can't remember who) and face his neolithic half-men creations. The party must contend with these half men and a few strange animal variations while exploring a small cave system (which is filled with fine moss-like hair). Eventually the party will reach Kernib's trophy room, which is filled with all sorts of trophies from his journeys. I don't understand exactly how this bridges into The Well of Souls, because I've never played it.

Clocking in at 14 pages, this is a fun little adventure. Honestly, you could use it to connect Sailors on the Starless Seas to most adventures if you'd like. There are fun combat encounters and some far out treasure to be had. If you have a few extra bucks and are making at order at Goodman Games, I'd add this one to your cart.
