Bury the Bride (2023)

This review is going to be spoiler free. I've posted the trailer, but it kind of gives away one of the plot points, so if you don't want spoiled, don't watch it.

Plot

Sadie, her sister June, and her friends head to June's fiancé's cabin for her bachelor party. They are soon let down by the desolate and run down location. Things take a deadly turn when the fiancé' and his wild friends arrive.

Review

I watched this because my friend Tommy recommended it. This film was directed by Spider One. You may or may not know him as the lead singer of Powerman 5000 and Rob Zombie's little brother. He co-wrote the movie with Krsy Fox, writer and wife of Theory's lead singer Tyler Connoly. Krsy also stars as the lead, Sadie. June is played by Scout Taylor-Compton (Laurie Strode from Zombie's take on Halloween) and is honestly the only actor I immediately recognized. After looking up the cast, Sonny and Cher's son, Chaz Bono, is also in the film.

The female cast definitely play up to common tropes and the bachelorette party is full of drama and drunkenness. Not a complaint, just an observation. There is definitely tension between the sisters and it's an important aspect of the story. The male cast play your typical chauvinistic rural types. Nothing new, but they do a good job.

This movie has some definite twists I didn't expect and I was entertained. The sets are minimalist, but work. The gore effects are fantastic. The tension is palpable through most of the film. For a Tubi Original, this movie is really good. It was taken off of Tubi Saturday and not streaming anywhere at the moment. I assume it will be on services again soon. If you want something familiar but unexpected at the same time. Check this one out.

In Your Game

Can't really include any new game content here without spoiling the flick. Let's just say this would make either a great one shot or a great launching point for certain horror games.
