Going Ape With The Monkeynomicon!

Last week I picked up the DC Ape-ril Special. This ape themed one-shot was full of primate humor and characters. Being a lover of comic book ape action I loved every second. The main story sees Monsieur Mallah form the Legion of D(oo-oo-ah-ah) with Eek-Gor (a new character), Jackanapes, Silver Back, Titano, and the Ultra-Humanite. They end up facing Monkey Prince, Detective Chimp, and Sam Simeon who end up forming the Jungle League of America with Beppo the Super-Monkey and Gleek.  The primary McGuffin of the story is the Monkeynomicon. The item is said to be forbidden and there really isn't much discussion about what it can do.

Monkeynomicon
Wondrous Item, Legendary (requires attunement)

This eldritch tome is quite powerful and can only be used by non-human primates. The script can be read by an intelligent ape or monkey, though to truly understand the tome and its contents they must make a DC 16 Intelligence check. On failure the ape takes 14 (4d6 psychic) damage. The primate cannot make another attempt to read the tome until they take a long rest. It contains the knowledge of how to create a wish granting Monkey's Paw use the severed arm of a living non-human primate. Treat the Monkey's Paw as a Ring of Three Wishes. After the initial magic is expended the monkey paws can then be animated (use Crawling Claw stats).

The tome also acts as a wizard's spellbook and contains the following spells:
Cantrip - Vicious Mockery, Mage Hand
1st - Expeditious Retreat, Grease, Jump, Thunderwave
2nd - Alter Self, Darkvision, Spider Climb
3rd - Bestow Curse, Fear, Haste, Remove Curse
4th - Hallucinatory Terrain, Polymorph
5th - Awaken (similar to Bard/Druid spell but only affects monkeys/apes, though it can affect monkey/apes with an intelligence higher 3)

Any spell cast from the tome is ape themed.
