October Horror Movie Challenge - Leprechaun Origins (2014)

Synopsis:
Backpacking through the lush Irish countryside, two unsuspecting young couples discover a town's chilling secret. Soon the find out the idyllic land is not what it appears to be when the town's residents offer the hikers an old cabin at the edge of the woods. Soon the friends will find that one of Ireland's most famous legends is a terrifying reality.

The Good: Not much, this movie is one of a dime a dozen slasher/monster flicks. The sets do look nice. The movie does start with a few deaths and it doesn't take long for the leprechaun to start coming after the main cast.

The Bad:  The movie is just flat. It's not awful, just very meh. The cast isn't all that likable, the leprechaun is boring looking and bestial. Also, considering Hornswaggle (the WWE wrestler playing the leprechaun is a sports entertaining, I figured there would be more physicality to the character).

Final Thoughts: Confession, I've never seen the original. I've seen a few clips. I appreciate that this movie is trying to make it more of horror film than a horror comedy, but I think the movie could have used a few quips. Also, the story behind the leprechauns and village could have been fleshed out better.

In Your Game: These leprechauns(spoiler there are more than one) would be a good addition to any cinematic unisystem game. The redcap stats from Ghosts of Albion would work just fine.
