October Horror Movie Challenge - Return of the Living Dead (1985)

Synopsis: Two klutzes working at a medical supply facility accidentally unleash Trioxin 2-4-5, a chemical that reanimates the dead, on the unsuspecting folks of Louisville KY. Soon they and their punk friends have to deal with the dead rising from a nearby graveyard.

The Good: This is the punk rock horror flick. From the soundtrack to the cast, it just screams punk. This has some of the most memorable lines. I believe it's also the first (or at least one of the first) to make zombies brain lovers. Prior to this, zombies typically just ate all flesh. The returned dead ate brains because it hurt to be dead and brains made it hurt less.

The Bad: I don't have any complaints for this one. In my eyes its a classic.

Final Thoughts: If you've not seen this one, seriously do yourself a favor and grab it now. Also, send more bloggers...

The Living Dead

AC 9 [10]   HD: 2    Attacks: Bite (1d3) Move: 9' Special: The only way to permanently destroy the living dead is to incinerate the bodies. Unfortunately this releases gas that can then seep into the ground and raise more dead. If reduced to 0 hit points the creatures are effectively hacked to pieces. Remember though, those pieces can still move and potentially infect the living.

  1. The over-acting when those klutzes get zombified by the toxic gas makes my brain hurt.
