October Horror Movie Challenge - Cujo (1983)

Synopsis: After getting bit by a bat a friendly St. Bernard goes from man's best friend to an aggressive beast. Trapped in her car with her young son, a mother struggles to survive both the heat and the killer canine.

The Good: I enjoyed Dee Wallace's performance and when things finally go down in the film, there's a great sense of tension. While not gory, the climax is tension-fueled and satisfying.

The Bad: The movie is a slow build. The film was considered gory at the time, but it's pretty tame by today's standards. I understand the affair with Steve sets up Vic leaving and Donna to be by herself, but it was really creepy. Maybe I've just known to many guys like Steve.

Final Thoughts: It feels weird that I'm just now watching this movie.

In Your Game:

Large Rabid Dog

Armor Class: 13                                           Attack Damage: Bite 1d6
Hit Dice: 2                                                     Special: Keen Senses, Rabies
Move: 18                                                       Bonuses: +2 to Toughness
Attacks: 2 per round                                     HDE: 2

Large rabid dogs (like other canines) have excellent senses and low light vision. Their rabid state makes them reckless, which gives them advantage on all attack rolls, but also means all attack rolls against them have advantage. A roll of 1 or 2 on a 1d6 on a successful bite will infect the recipient with rabies. They will get fevers, chills, and other side effects that will give them a -2 on all rolls while infected*.

(*I know that in real life rabies symptoms can take weeks to show, but this is a game).
