Merry Axemas Day 10 - Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984)

Synopsis: When he was only five years old, little Billy watched his mother and father get murdered by a man wearing a Santa Clause outfit. He and his brother were sent to a Catholic orphanage, ran by a cruel mother superior. Years later (at age 18 and while dressed as Santa) he witnesses a co-worker trying to rape another coworker and this leads to a spree killing.

The Good: There are some interesting kills. I think my favorite is Debbie's impalement on the mounted antlers. There are some thoroughly creepy scenes in this one too. The scene with Santa Billy and the little girl (after the aforementioned antler slaying) is one of them. Finally, the final scene with  Billy's brother saying "naughty" was perfect.  

The Bad: There are a a few things that bugged me. It's never explained why Billy is so damn strong. He lifts a grown man by his neck with one hand. His strength seems inhuman.

Final Thoughts: Not sure I'll watch this one again, but I'm glad I watched it. This is a piece of slasher history and worth a viewing.

Billy can enter a single minded state in which all he wishes to do is punish the naughty, when in this state he gains incredible strength and a +2 to toughness. However, he is so single minded that he cannot take any other actions other than attacking the naughty target.
