Review

This movie is a lot of fun and will be a part of my regular Xmas viewing. David Harbour is great as his normal grumpy comedic self. I like on the disillusioned Santa trope. He's also a fun, John McClane style action star. Not going to lie, seeing him topless and inked up at one point, was a welcome site.

Lea Brady is delightful and young Trudy. She really is the heart of the flick. Her dysfunctional family are all played laughs or emotion and fulfill the role well. The team of mercs with holiday codenames were fun. In particular, John Leguizamo's Scrooge was the perfect mastermind. Andre Eriksen's Gingerbread and Mitra Suri's Candy Cane have some great interactions with him and each other. Finally, Brendan Fletcher's Krampus was a perfect psycho bad guy. Been a fan of Fletcher since Freddy vs Jason, so it was cool to see him in the flick.

This movie isn't original. It's a mash-up of other Christmas related flicks of the past, particularly Die Hard and Home Alone. I don't think that's a bad thing though. The film is just fun. How can you not love Santa going around dispatching mercs with Christmas-themed puns and one liners? Also, it's fun to see how devastating Home Alone traps would actually be. The action is really good and there's some brutal and funny stuff.

If you want a Christmas movie that's not your ordinary comedy or Hallmark movie, check this one out.

In Your Game
No new gaming content for this post, though I might stat up this version of this Santa at some point. It has inspired me to do a 5e take on the Secret Society of Santas. Expect a little post about that soon.
