Obscene Serpent Religion 2 Review

Obscene Serpent Religion 2 is another Lamentations of the Flame Princess GenCon release. It's not connected to the first one, other than both focus on snake cults.

I've said this to a couple of folks but this book is just plain mean. It's divided into two sections. The first half of the book is devoted to a quiet little town. The major residents are presented and adventure hooks are provided for most locations. The town, Nonsbeck, is meant to serve as a regular stopping point or home base for the party. In addition to plot hooks, prominent npc's are given stats.

The second half of the book totally nukes it. While the party is away doing adventure things an evil serpent demon is unleashed. This demon has the power to alter the history of those that shed blood with it in combat. When the players come back most of their allies are dead or changed. The new monstrous versions are given stats too. The book ends with stats for the snake demon who's quite frightening. She can literally go back in time and potentially write the character out of existence (meaning the player will be playing a different character). It has several other interesting and nasty things it can do to foes.

If anyone has played the Diablo series this makes me think of how Tristram is your home base in the first game and when you return to it in later games it's full of undead and monsters. This might be one of the reasons I liked it so much. However, I will reiterate that this adventure is mean because not only will the GM corrupt and change a (hopefully) beloved location for the characters, there's no treasure in this one. That being said, this is really well written and I can't wait to use it in my games.
You can purchase the pdf here. Also, if you never read Obscene Serpent Religion you can snag the pdf here.

Crawling Under A Broken Moon #16 Review

Crawling Under A Broken Moon #16 is an excellent addition to Umerica and DCC in general. Also, while Umerica is a DCC setting and there is no guarantee that Terra A.D. is Earth's post apocalyptic future, I think the monsters contained within this zine would be very appropriate to most MCC game's too. There are (when you count variations) 20+ new monsters. Each with art, description, and adventure hooks. They are:
  • The Black Cloud - a sort of pollution elemental of smog and such
  • Business Revenant - literal corporate zombies
  • Cihuateteo - Central American creatures created by a faulty nanovirus
  • Data Elemental - the name says it all
  • Demolishroom and Shroomanoids - Kaiju-like mushroom creature that lives in a symbiotic relationship with small mushroom creatures that benefit from its rampages
  • Frabs - intelligent thieving crabs that have a basic understanding of electronics and sometimes act as merchants
  • Gun Elemental - again, the name says it all
  •  Lion Snakes (adult, cub, two-head variety) - frightening predators (one of which is pictured on the cover)
  • Organic Data MULE (Mobile Ubiquitous LAN Extension) - a sort of template that can be added to normal animals which turns their DNA into repositories of information
  • The Posse of Perception (Tiers 1-5) - a strange cult group, made of humanoids with heads that appear as the five senses
  • Reindire - immortal (and kind of hunky) anthropomorphic reindeer that serve Santa (who is a deity in Umerica)
  • Tru-Pet (3 dog models) - Artifical pets from another dimension
  • Wraith Rider - new type of undead that are essentially Harley versions of the Headless Horseman
As I said earlier, this is a great selection of monsters created by many talented folks. You can and should grab a physical copy here or at least get a digital copy here.

My copy is special because Anna and Diogo signed it. ;P

From The Pages of Punvaraxus Update

In the last post I talked about my zine I said I wanted to have the first issue out by Halloween. I'm not 100% that will happen now, but I have some good reasons for that. I recently emailed Goodman Games and have received copies of the licence agreements for Mutant Crawl Classics and Dungeon Crawl Classics. Even though I'm making indie stuff, I want to do it the legit way and Goodman Games is really good about supporting their third party material. There are a few things I want to do before submitting those forms. I'd like to be in my new apartment and have a professional looking website for Halls of the Nephilim Publishing. If I'm going to do this. I'm going to do it right.

Also, remember if you have any ideas or content you want to submit it to pagesofpunvaraxus at outlook dot com. You still own the rights to what you submit and I'll send you a free print copy of the issue your work appears in.

Sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom Review

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/250057/Sounds-of-the-Mushroom-Kingdom?src=hottest_filtered
Sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom is another GenCon exclusive book for Lamentations of the Flame Princess. It was written by James Edward Raggi IV and (to me) feels like a spiritual sequel to the 2016 Free RPG Day release, Slügs!,

The book is essentially a 44 page monster manual of Mushroom Mans (how Raggi refers to them) and other creatures related to them. There are eight different varieties of Mushroom Mans (not counting the Mushroom King). Quite a bit of information is presented about what happens when you eat a Mushroom Man. Typically it's quite beneficial, other than causing the occasional magic psychedelic trip. In addition to the humanoid shrooms, there are several fungal animals and creatures related to their life cycle. After the monster write-ups there are two pages of shroom-based magic items and finally a Mushroom Mans player character class.

This book is entertaining and is definitely a good addition to OSR games. However, other than the constant references to consuming sentient creatures, it doesn't feel like a Lamentations of the Flame Princess book. I mean it's good and weird, but it just seems really odd when mixed with the early modern era aesthetic of Lamentations. This feels more like a classic fantasy kind of book. I also found the inclusion of a Mushroom Man class to be particularly odd considering the playtest info for the next version of the game is getting rid of dwarves, halflings, and elves. Then again, this is Raggi's game and he can do whatever the fuck he wants with it.Who am I to question it?

Personally I think I might include Mushroom Mans into the mix the next time I run Keep on the Borderlands. One of the side tunnels in the Caves of Chaos would be the perfect place to start a Mushroom Mans incursion. Also, if you're running Spores of the Sad Shroom, this book would be a great way to flesh out the adventure more.

Working Class Alphabet Review

The Working Class Alphabet is a zine-sized sampler of a larger project spearheaded by the talented and sexy, David Coppoletti. The first three levels of three classes that will appear in the final version of Class Alphabet are presented. They are:

  • Hellfonts (created by R.S. Tilton) are folks that have sold that have made deals with powerful infernal beings for mystical strength. They are the essentially warrior versions of warlocks. They have mighty strength, but the magic that imbues them corrupts their bodies.
  • Monster Trainers (by Noah Stevens) are the DCC version of Pokemon Trainers. They travel the world, battling and capturing monsters, to be the very best (like no one ever was). In addition to the class, bygrinstow (the editor and layout person for the zine) also included some monsters for the trainer to use and fight.
  • The Stitch Golem (by David Baity) is a pc flesh golem. They seem like a lot of fun and have some different features based on the source of their brain.
All and all I have to say each one of these classes looks like it would be fun to play. My personal favorite is the monster training, though the stitch golem is a close second (not that the Hellfront isn't cool too).

Pick up a copy of the "Glitched Edition" from the designer directly. All the content is there for this one (with crisp layout), there are just a few images that look pixelated. You can also grab a copy from Goodman Games here and OBS here.

She Bleeds Review

She Bleeds is a player supplement for Lamentations of the Flame Princess and other OSR games. The supplement is only 24 pages long, but it's well worth the pdf and original GenCon price (though not the secondary market mark-up). If you couldn't tell by the cover and title, menstruation is one of the primary focuses of the book, which means this definitely isn't for everyone. There isn't much artwork. I would say only one fits the classic gory LotFP style and there's one sexual one.

Essentially this book (which is wonderfully written in character) presents a mystical parasitic infection that binds one or more players (male or female) to an entity from another dimension. The player must either complete several rituals throughout the various phases of the moon or die. They are presented with different options for these rituals and each one changes the character. This grants new abilities and weaknesses and ties their menstrual cycle to the phases of the moon. I know what you're thinking, "but you said this is available to male and female characters." It is. If a man has been affected by the infection and goes through the rituals they slowly turn into a biological female as their genitalia rot off and transforms into a vagina, they grow breasts, and their features soften. Yes this is a way for male pc's to get a hold of the spells featured in Vaginas are Magic!. The character must do this ritual for the rest of their lives, though for actual play purposes I'd probably only roleplay the initial go.

Though it's short this is my favorite book of the GenCon print exclusives. It's the perfect blend of witchcraft and Cthulhu mythos content and is a nice addition to the Lamentations lines.

Portsmaw NPC's - Mama Rose (Part II)

You can read about Mama Rose and her daughters here. At the Judge’s discretion, if they tell a character’s fortune have the player roll a d17 and add or subtract their luck modifier and consult the table below.
  • 0 (or lower) – “The powers must think you’ve been too ornery.” – Until the character completes some sort of assigned task from a higher power, unique fey, spirit, or demon the character receives a -1 on saving throws (roll and addition d4 to figure out which 1 - Fortitude, 2 – Reflex, 3 – Will, 4 – All three).
  • 1 - "Don't be gittin' too big for your britches" The character loses one point of Luck.
  • 2-4 – “Ope, they're quiet today.” – The diviner gains no insight about the character.
  • 5-7 – “I reckon you could….” – The diviner gives vague advice regarding the character's current endeavors.
  • 8 - "Today's your lucky day." - The character gains one point of Luck.
  • 9- "Fate will intervene." - The next time the character makes a saving throw, fate lends a helping hand, giving them a +d5 on the roll.
  • 10 - "Let the spirits see for you."- The character gains infravision, as if under the effect of Ekim's Mystical Mask with a check result of 12, except the duration is 24 hours.
  • 11 - "Someone favors ya." - The character is affected by a Blessing spell (cast on an ally at result of 14, except that the duration is 24 hours)
  • 12 - "One of the dead has come a'callin'." - A deceased soul known to the character appears. As a Speak With The Dead spell made with a result of 15, the character may ask one question of the spirit.
  • 13 - "What is it your heart desires?" - The character has knowledge of the location of one item as if a Locate Object spell was cast with a result of 22.
  • 14 - "They aren't done with you yet, child." - A symbol of the Judge's choice appears on the characters left hand, a mark from the gods, spirits, or something darker. The next time the character would die, 1d7 rounds later they return to life and at a 1 quarter of their max hit points (rounded down).

Night Soil #0 Review

The Night Soil zine is pretty unique. The zine is full of grab-and-use elements for your DCC games. Each of these is inspired by the art of the 4th printing of Dungeon Crawl Classics Core Rulebook.

Issue #0 includes many cool little bits and bobs including 1 new character class/race option (though it's limited to level 3), 6 monsters, 3 spells, 15 or so items, and several other interesting additions to your game.

My favorite entries are the Horseshoes of Returning, Pipe of Contentment, Uses of a Dead Giant, and Dogmen.

If you want to add some oddities inspired by the awesome artwork of the DCC Core Rulebook, then you should pick up a copy of Night Soil. You can grab it from the author here. It's also available in the Goodman Games Store and in pdf form on DriveThru RPG.

My First DCC Road Crew Game!

If you happen to be in southern Ohio a month from today you should come to my first Dungeon Crawl Classics Road Crew game! Here's a link to the Facebook event. Unless I have small children attending I will be running Daniel J. Bishop's The Arwich Grinder. Also, because it's an official Road Crew game, I'll have swag to give away.

OSR Haunting of Hastur Modules Kickstarter

Hey folks, just wanted to point out that Dark Naga's OSR Kickstarter for their The Hauntings of Hastur adventures are currently on Kickstarter. The project has 5 days to go and is about 88% funded. I have all of these adventures for 5e and I can say the story is engaging and the adventures are unique. If you want some creative adventures that will force your players to do more than swing their weapons, check it out.

Happy National Power Rangers Day!

Today is the first ever National Power Rangers Day.

I've decided I'm going to stat out one of my childhood crushes.

Scorpina is a childhood friend of Rita Repulsa and is shown to be affectionate with Goldar. Rita can cause her to grow into a gigantic humanoid scorpion monster. Once I figure out how to do the kaiju-side of Power Rangers in White Star, I'll stat out that aspect of her.

Scorpina
Armor Class 5 [14]
Hit Dice 6
Total Hit Bonus +5
Attacks Scorpion Blade (1d6+1, see below)
Saving Throw 9
Movement 12
HDE/XP  6/300

Scorpion Blade
This crescent-shaped sword can be thrown like a boomerang at a range of 60'. Once thrown it will return to it's owner who must make a saving throw to catch it.

Because Scorpina has been using the blade her entire life, she can catch it automatically.

Previous Stats
Lord Drakkon (Boom! Comics)
Rita (Power/Rangers)
Finster (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers)
Putties, Z-Putties, Super Putties (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers)
Putties (Power Rangers)

"They're Coming To Get You Barbara!"

The SURVIVE THIS!! - Zombies! 2nd Edition - Core Rulebook is now available on DriveThruRPG! You can snag it here. If you pick up the pdf, you'll get a discount with the POD version become available.

I really enjoy this game. You can read my review here. If you've been reading my blog for a while you know I love All Flesh Must Be Eaten. I will honestly say that this game has put a bullet in the brain of All Flesh and become my favorite zombie rpg. It's an outstanding game on its own, but it's even cooler when you realize it's a part of the SURVIVE THIS!! multiverse. What's that mean? This game is fully compatible with Dark Places & Demogorgons and will also be fully compatible with Vigilante City.

Support a great company and buy a spectacular game.

Also if you want to add some craziness to your game, I've got you covered with the following stat posts.

Colonel America
Bonesaw
Joseph Seed
Herbert West, Re-Animator
Feral Vampire (Stakeland)
Killer Tomatoes
Wax Figures (Gravity Falls)

My GenCon Haul

As I mentioned yesterday, Dave snagged some goodies for me at GenCon. They were waiting for me when I got home there were some extras.

In addition to the 4 for 30 exclusive books, he snagged one of the catalogs, which features some great artwork. I'll review the books throughout the week but here's a breakdown of each with links to the pdfs (which are available in case you missed the print copies at GenCon and don't want to pay Noble Knights crazy prices.

  • Going Through Forbidden Otherworlds - The party enters another world where reality is much different. Honestly of the four exclusives, this is the one I've not read yet, so I can't say much more.
  • Sounds of the Mushroom Kingdom - A fun monster/race guide in the vein of  Slügs!, though much grander in scope.
  • Obscene Serpent Religion 2 -  This supplement adventure is particularly mean and I love it. Introduce your party to a settlement, get them invested and connected to it, then fuck it up with a demon snake.
  • She Bleeds -  This supplement written for characters is a mix of Cthulhu mythos and witchcraft. It's my favorite of the four.

Dave also surprised me with four DCC zines! Here's a rundown of each and where you can pick them up. Again, expect full reviews soon.

I also wanted to highlight this pic. In the CUABM issue Dave had a couple of contributors sign it. I don't know Anna, but we have several mutual friends, including Dave. The second signature is from Diogo, one of the coolest dudes in the OSR (and I'll fight via table top rpgs anyone that disagrees with that). We will roll dice together at GenCon next year!

Portsmaw NPC's - Mama Rose (Part I)

Mama Rose

Everyone in Portsmaw knows Mama Rose. The jolly Rubenesque seer is an active part of the town's nightlife. She and her children (blood and adopted) are more than celebrants of life's pleasures though, they are mouth pieces of the Three Fates.

Mama Rose: Init +1, Atk Dagger +3 melee (1d4) or Spell (special); AC 12 (plus Magic Shield); HD 6d4; MV 30'; Act 1d20 + 1d16; SP 6th-level wizard (+8 spell check, charm person, detect magic, consult spirit, magic shield, read magic, invoke patron [the Three Fates], Blade of Atropos, Curse of Moirae, warp and weft);  SV Fort +2, Ref +5, Will +7; AL N

Rose's Daughters: Init +1, Atk Dagger +3 melee (1d4) or Spell (special); AC 11; HD 3d4; MV 30'; Act 1d20; SP see below;  SV Fort +2, Ref +2, Will +4; AL N

While she has many "children," she has three daughters of note (all red-headed like their mother):

Ambrosia: The elder biological daughter, Ambrosia is known for her short temper. Unlike the other sisters she casts no spells, but she has the power to curse (DC 16 save; see DCC RPG, pg. 438).

Cat: Rose's youngest biological daughter, the capricious Cat lives up to her name and has an affinity for felines. She casts spells as a 3rd-level wizard (+4 spell check, invoke patron (the Three Fates), Blade of Atropos, Curse of Moirae, animal summoning, cantrip, ropework)

Ashelan: Though she's adopted, Ashelan has the same figure and fiery red hair as Rose. She's also closer to Rose in attitude and seer abilities than her sisters. She casts spells as a 3rd-level wizard (+5 spell check, invoke patron (the Three Fates), second sight (can cast as wizard spell), charm person, Runic alphabet (mortal) detect magic, locate object)

GenCon Lamentations Books

Glad my brother, Dave, snagged these for me at GenCon. At the con the books were 4 for 30. They should be waiting on me when I get home from work and I can't wait to check them out. Expect reviews this week. Did anyone else pick these up? If so, what are your thoughts?

Also, I'm making a promise to myself. Next year I'll be at GenCon to pick books up myself.

Portsmaw Encounters - River Rising

Traveling near the Oh'yio, the party hears the cries of a distressed child. Looking out into the river, they see a young child stranded on a sand barge in the middle of the river. The water is slowly rising and if the party does nothing it will drown. The child was placed their by the cruel fey Gallia (who lurks beneath the water). In addition to the wicked faerie, there are several hungry catfish (the size of a large dogs) swimming in the water that will attack them if they attempt to swim to the child.

Hungry Catfish (1 per pc): Init +2, Atk bite +3 melee (1d6+1); AC 15; HD 2d8+5; MV 10' or Swim 40'; Act 1d20; SV Fort +3, Ref +2, Will +1; AL N

Gallia (1): Init +3, Atk Fist +2 melee (1d5); AC 15; HD 3d8; MV 15', Swim 40'; Act 1d20; SP damage reduction 5, lullaby of woe;  SV Fort +3, Ref +2, Will +2; AL C

Anyone hearing Gallia's lullaby must make a DC 14 will save or fall asleep for 1d8 hours or until they take damage. If Gallia is reduced to 0 HP she will reform in 1d6 days. She always returns to life in the Oh'yio.  She tends to hold grudges.

Portsmaw Encounters - Bubba Wati

Yes this encounter is ripped from Bubba Ho-Tep.

------------

Wandering near the Oh'yio the party spot the sunken wreckage of a brightly colored barge poking at of the water. If they investigate they find that the barge belonged to a traveling oddities show known as Loquacious Landsdale's Legends. Among the refuse they find a stone sarcophagus from a foreign land with a cracked lid. A day later they come upon a small community facing a bizarre phenomenon. The elders are dying of the same mysterious cause, their souls extinguished. The culprit is an ancient mummy that has begun to mimic the ways of the locals.

Bubba Wati (1):Init -2, Atk choke +5 melee (1d4/2d4/3d4/ etc. and soul suck); AC 11; HD 3d12; MV 15'; Act 1d20; SP damage reduction 5, soul suck, vulnerable to fire, un-dead traits;  SV Fort +4, Ref +2, Will +6; AL C

Bubba Wati has the abilities and weaknesses of a standard mummy (see DCC RPG; pg. 422). In addition he can suck the souls from any sleeping creature. He sucks the souls from the creature's anus. For every round of soul sucking, the target loses one level.

Dark All Day

My friend (and fellow gamer), Stew, told me about this video and I had to share it with you fine folks.

This song and video are pretty out there, but I really dig the combo. Here's what it's going going for it:
  • Tim Cappello (aka Sexy Sax Man from The Lost Boys).
  • Lyrics mentioning the Lost Boys
  • David (Lost Boys)
  • Frog Brothers (Lost Boys)
  • Buffy (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
  • Blade (Blade films and comics)
  • Seth Gecko (From Dusk Til Dawn)
  • Sex Machine's Cock Gun (From Dusk Til Dawn)
  • Blood Rain
  • A scantily clad singer dancing in said blood rain

Portsmaw Encounters - The Return of Reverend Pancake

One of the things I'm working on for Portsmaw is a d16 encounter list. As I make them, I'll post them on here.

This encounter is inspired by a story my friend John told me. Apparently somewhere in the county there's a preacher named Reverend Pancake that was buried and has a pretty apocalyptic epitaph (which is paraphrased below).

-------------------------
A small forgotten graveyard is found in clearing in the dark heart of the woods. While most of the grave markers are bare. There is a large marker in the center of the clearing. Though it can't be made out without wiping away the grime and vegetation that has grown over it, there is an inscription that reads "Though you lay my body beneath the soil I will rise again to lead an army of souls of the dead to reclaim the land from the wicked and undeserving of life. - Reverend Pancake" After the party is finished reading the inscription a bolt of lightning strikes the ground near the stone. The character with the lowest Luck score needs to roll a reflex saving throw or take 1d6 lightning damage as it arcs. The ground begins to shake and the next round Reverend Pancake bursts from his grave ready to take back the land. The next round his zombie followers burst forth from their graves. They target elves and wizards first.

Reverend Pancake (1): Init +2; Atk: Staff of the Pure +4 melee (1d6 + 1d4 to wizards, elves, and other spellcasters); AC 13; HD 5d6; MV 30'; Act 1d20; SP un-dead; SV Fort +4, Ref +0, Will +4; AL C

Though un-dead, he cannot be turned by clerics. In addition he does not need to eat, drink, or breath. He is also immune to sleep, charm, and hold spells, as well as other mental effects and cold damage.

Risen Zealots (Zombies) (2d3): See DCC RPG; p. 431

Staff of the Pure - This magical staff was designed to kill non-divine casters. The wielder gains a +1 bonus to hit and the staff does an extra 1d4 damage to anyone who can cast spells not gifted from the gods.

2000th Post

Did you folks know this is my 2000th post? Seriously though I didn't think I'd keep this thing going this long or become as invested as I am. Here's a list of things coming up:

  1. October Horror Movie Challenge - I've already started my list. This is a tradition I will continue as long as this blog is a thing.
  2. From The Pages Of Punvaraxus - The DCC zine is coming along, I've got most of the content for the first issue. It will go into layout very soon.
  3. Portsmaw - I know I only bring it up periodically but it's still happening. I've decided the best way to flesh it out and make it come alive is to run it. I'm trying to get folks together to play in my hometown-based sandbox. I even have an idea for a funnel adventure for the setting.

DCC Cover Craft

I was looking for DCC vids on Youtube and came across this. DM Scotty recreated the original cover and has three videos that show you how to do it. I thought it was too cool to not share.

#WEALLLIVEONPUNJAR (Hobonomicon Issue #0)

Behold the Hobonomicon...
I said behold!
Not long before Gen Con, I saw Doug Kovacs post about his upcoming project (with Wayne Snider, Stefan Poag and others), the Hobonomicon. I love Dungeon Crawl classics, I love Doug's work, and I knew this was going to be something special.

Most of the issue is devoted to Doug's GenCon 2018 after hours DCC game, Escape from Planet Punjar. What is Escape from Planet Punjar exactly? Well it's an adventure/campaign starter filled with gonzo ideas and made to be totally random. Set in the far off future Punjar is a doomed planet/city. You can run the whole thing as you go because each piece of content is a part of a random chart. Here's the breakdown.

  • Introductions - d4 different ways to kick off the game.
  • Zero Level Occupations - D100 gender (male, female, pregnant female, pregnant male), d100 race (no mutations, secret mutant, obvious mutant), and d100 classes (100 different)
  • Map - d12 locations... okay not so sure this one is a random chart but it does have numbers
  • Planet Punjar Encounters - d16 gonzo encounters for the party, some of which are illustrations that you have to construct an encounter from
  • Gangs, Cops, and Cults - d6  different for each, average stats included for each
  • Chance Happenings and Random Shit - This one is really cool. You roll a d12 to figure out which illustration to use, then a d6 to tell you who gets to explain what's going on.
  • Escapes From Planet Punjar - d5 ways to get off the planet before it goes nuclear/toxic/kills your dumbass.
Escape From Planet Punjar is fantastic! It's definitely repayable. Honestly you could roll the same things on some of the smaller charts and I know that each game would be unique. I picture these sessions playing out like segments from Heavy Metal.

The issue also includes some DCC comics: Death of the Reaver Part I and Dreams of a Klartesh Fiend. Both feature great illustrations and I can't wait to read more of Death of the Reaver.

You can (and should) purchase your own copy of the Hobonomicon #0 here.

Also if you play you can use print one of these really cool character sheets he made for it.

Hey! You Got Your Elder Scrolls in My Untold Adventures....

Do you like James Spahn's Untold Adventures? Do you like any of the Elder Scrolls video games?

If you answered yes to either of these questions you should really check out Josh Becklehimer's Untold Scrolls project. Info on it (and the first pdf) cane be found here. Essentially he's taking the two class system, turning it into a one class system and then using the races of Elder Scrolls to to create class types, much like you do in Skyrim.

I'm really looking forward to seeing where this project goes. I'm also thinking that sometime in the future an unoficial Fallout hack needs to be made. Untold Wastelands sounds cool...

Pumpkinhead (DCC Stats)

Pumpkinhead by Ed Justin

“Keep away from Pumpkinhead,
Unless you’re tired of living,
His enemies are mostly dead,
He’s mean and unforgiving,
Laugh at him and you’re undone,
But in some dreadful fashion,
Vengeance, he considers fun,
And plans it with a passion,
Time will not erase or blot,
A plot that he has brewing,
It’s when you think that he’s forgot,
He’ll conjure your undoing,
Bolted doors and windows barred,
Guard dogs prowling in the yard,
Won’t protect you in your bed,
Nothing will, from Pumpkinhead!”

Pumpkinhead (Type III Demon)

Init +4, Atk claw +8 melee (1d6+1 damage); AC 19; HD 8d12+6; MV 35'; Act 2d20; SP infravision, darkness (+12 check), immune to weapons of less than +2 enchantment or natural attacks from creatures of 5 HD or less; half damage from fire, acid, cold, electricity, and gas, Crit Threat range 18-20);  SV Fort +10, Ref +6, Will +10; AL C

These twisted demons are only invoked by those who truly want revenge. The witch that summons it must have some blood from the summoner who will slowly take on Pumpkinhead-like qualities as the demon does its mission. During this time the summoner will also begin to feel the agony of the creature's victims. It is thought that only the willing death of the summoner will stop the creature. This causes the demon to die and the summoner to take the demon's place. If someone else kills the summoner the creature will seek to complete it's original task the next time it is summoned.

I'm going to use some take on this for Portsmaw.

CelebriD&D with Terry Crews

This was an interesting promo episode of CelebriD&D was fun. The first part focused on Terry Crews group of Horde characters. The second part features Troy Baker and his Alliance Allies. The two groups come together and get into some PvP action.

My favourite moment was the zone of truth at the ogre camp, specifically the two headed ogre arguing with himself.

Rollout - Season 4 (Season Finale)

Apparently they just filmed one session and broke it down into four parts for season 1. I was entertained and hope they come back to it.

Get Your Salacious PDF's Today

There are a few new Lamenations of the Flame Princess pdf releases I'd like to bring to everyone's attention.

This year's Free RPGDay release James Edward Raggi IV's Eldritch Cock is now available for the glory of all at the great price of pay-what-you want. You can read my review here.
Kelvin Green's extremely limited print run book Fish Fuckers is also available in pdf form. At 7.99 it's a great price. I love the adventure and you can read my review here. Don't let the title keep you away. Yes there is fish man fucking involved, but it's actually a rather clever adventure.

Finally the 10th anniversary of The Random Esoteric Creature Generator for Classic Fantasy Role-Playing Games and Their Modern Simulacra. The text of this book is 95% identical to the original version published by Goodman Games. The layout and art are different. To be honest, I've not really checked this one out, but I feel like I need to.

Rollout - Episode 3

This week the party tracks the goblins to their caves. I laughed at the final encounter and might need to work some "Oh yeahs!" into my next game.
