No one knows the origins of the mystical Kandarian Dagger, but it was most likely created to combat the Dark Ones or Deadites. While they are normally impervious to most injury, the dagger can slay a Deadite in one hit. The creature must make a DC 20 saving throw (using their HD as a bonus) or be instantly killed every time they are struck by the weapon. The book can even be used to damage the Necronomicon (or at least skin the book's cover).
