Happy Free Comic Book Day/Comic Giveaway Day!

In honor of Free Comic Book Day and Comic Giveaway Day, Dungeon Remixer presents the ashcan edition of our Superzero class. This is the early version of a class that will appear in a later issue of Crisis In Infinite Zines. Inspired by Legion of Substitute Heroes, the Morlocks, and other oddball characters the class allows you to play a hero with abilities that aren’t quite super.

Free Comic Book Day/Comics Give Away Day 2026

The geek world was seriously disrupted a few years ago with Diamond Distributors filed for bankruptcy last year. I know a few publishers that took some big losses from the fallout. It also affected the comic book world. Because of licensing issues and other behind the scenes things several comic book publishers that previous participated in Free Comic Book Day have launched Comics Giveaway Day. Its basically the same thing and on the same day, but for legal reasons they are two separate events. While some years I've visited several locations across Columbus, this year I'm just hitting Super-Fly Comics and Games in Yellow Springs.

Here are the comics from each event I'm looking forward to most.

Free Comic Book Day 2024

It's the first Saturday in may which means that in addition to be Derby Day, it's Free Comic Book Day! If you'd like to find a  participating shop near you check out this link. I’ll be heading out later with my friend John.

I'd also like to point you to the 5e Fantomah pdf I dropped for Free Comic Book Day 2022. Maybe I can come up with something for next year.

Fantomah (FCBD Special) Available Now!

A week from tomorrow (May 7) is Free Comic Book Day! I haven't participated in several years. However, this year I'm going to hit several shops in central Ohio (including my fav Super-Fly Comics & Games) with my buddy, John Hancock, and my Teen Titan, Grayson.

In celebration of the day, to keep my 5e supers momentum going, and to start releasing new content for The Lone Bards I will be releasing a free pdf featuring 5e stats to the first super heroine in comics, Fantomah. She will be a part of the New Punverse, but the character could work in any 5e game. To see another take on her, check out the fantastic Leopard Women of Venus by Josh Burnett and Leighton Conner. While Fantomah is classicly a blonde bombshell in a negligee that transforms into a skull headed woman, I will be using some fantastic artwork I requested while a Patreon supporter of JE Shields.
