Mythoard #21

Mythoard 21 is an interesting mix of materials. I have to say my favorite items are The Croaking Fane (it's Michael Curtis DCC goodness) and suprisingly The Slumber Tsar Saga Coloring Album. I've recently got into the adult coloring book thing and the timing is great. I find them very relaxing and I believe they can be very beneficial for self care.

New Mythoard

I received a new Mythoard today. This one has a few things I'm rather excited about. Sabres and Witchery is essentially a Solomon Kane version of Swords & Wizardry. Having part one of the S&W Rappan Athuk Cyclopean Deeps for is pretty cool too. I may not be playing Razor Coast as I'd originally intended, but I'm still excited for new S&W material.

 The Lesser Gnome Games miniature was my favorite part though. The little guy is perfect for a goblin bard or herald. I didn't know I needed a mini of one of those, but I'm glad I have one.

The Dungeoneer is fun to look at and War Cry is a full miniatures rules set from the Judges Guild. The adventure hook card is neat and as always I love the exclusive insert (which has two parts this time). This month's is definitely written for something like D&D, but is rather edition neutral (or at least looks that way to me).

This makes me want to buy more Lesser Gnome miniatures.

July Mythoard

This is July's Mythoard. While there's some cool stuff in it, I probably won't use much of it. I might convert the Castles and Crusades stuff to another system. I do love giants after all. Barons of Braunstein is a cool piece, but I won't end up playing it. I might be able to use Tarlkin's Landing for White Star. The advanced deployment tokens make me smile. Especially the black one, I've named him Shadow Jesus.

June Mythoard

My June Mythoard has arrived! I think the stand out products of this hoard are the Far Away Land quickstart, sticker, and The Eye of Malas mini adventure. I've had an interest in the Adventure Time-esque rpg for a bit, but hadn't got around to checking it out.

May Mythoard

I received my May Mythoard today.

This one has an interesting mix of things. I think my favorite items are the potion tokes and the one page by +Tim Shorts (a gentleman you should support on Patreon). Pixies on Parade looks cute and I find the idea of The Dig intriguing, plus it makes me think of this song.

February Mythoard Pics

I recieved my second Mythoard and once again, I'm quite pleased. My favorite material was the Age of Undying supplement for Dungeon Crawl Classics and the companion one sheet adventure. If you have any questions about something in the picture, ask, and I'd be happy to talk about it.

My First Mythoard

Today I received my first Mythoard! I can say that I'm pleased. I do have a minor complaint that I'd like to mention before I get into the awesome. I was charged for my second month, before I received my first month's contents. My original plan was to try a month and then cancel my sub if I wasn't pleased. Because of the late shipment (which I understand rarely happens), I wasn't able to do that. All right, now that I've mentioned that, let's get talk about the goodies.

Contents of my hoard

For me, this was well worth the 25 dollar a month subscription price. I just put the print version of White Star on my One Book Shelf wishlist. Getting this paid for the subscription. Everything else is just icing on the cake. Robot Uprising is a one sheet (front and back) single session White Star adventure from Barrel Rider Games. The Astrogators Chartbook is a great book of charts and graphs that would be useful to anyone doing a space game. You're reading that correctly too. It's an old Judges Guild product. The two flat plastic miniatures are from ArcKnight games. One looks like a male vampire/necromancer and the other a female rogue. I've been interested in these minis since I first saw the Kickstarter. They look great, though because of the thin nature of the plastic, I do worry about them breaking. The die is a d12 that lists body parts. You can order them on Paizo's website by going to this link. Finally, The First Sentinel is a 3-5 level  OSR adventure by Lesser Gnome. It's nominally set in the Lesser Gnome Whisper Vale setting, but can easily be adapted to any setting. In addition to the print materials, I also have access to various digital downloads.

Dungeon Crate and Mythoard

People like subscription boxes. I have several friends that are monthly subscribers to Loot Crate. I, myself, signed up for the fantasy themed month. If you aren't familiar with the subscription box model, you pay a monthly fee (typically 25 to 35 dollars, after shipping) and each month you get a random assortment of goodies (which would probably cost you double if you bought them individually). I know of two subscription services like this for tabletop gamers,  Mythoard  and Dungeon Crate.

With Mythoard you get 5 or more tabletop items delivered monthly. It's been around for about a year now (though there was a beta version in 2014). The contents of the box could be miniatures, books, posters, maps, dice, etc. You can check out an archive of previous months offerings on their site. There is some really cool stuff, including Mythoard exclusive adventures from companies like Awful Good Games.  The monthly rate is $25 dollars if you decide to pay month to month. The rate is cheaper if you prepay for multiple months. Researching this post I noticed they have a few coupons right now that are valid through tomorrow. I think Dungeon Crate looks cool. From the sample products on their webpage, I've seen some great minis related items.

I decided to give Mythoard a try (mainly due to the discount code). When I get my first box, I'll take some pictures and post about it. I'd like to get in on the founding level of Dungeon Crate but I will admit I'm a bit apprehensive about dropping around a hundred dollars for a product I've not seen. I'm definitely going to pledge for the first month and then I'll take it from there.
