Slashers & Survivors

I'm working on my first standalone game for The Lone Bards, Slasher & Survivors.

I've talked about the game a few times on Facebook, but for those unfamiliar, I'll give a brief synopsis/background.

The game will be a totally revised version of our super rule-lite, Slashers and Victims. The original game was designed to be perfect for one-shots, which puts it totally in line with Slasher flicks. However, with the success of tv series like Scream Queens, Slasher, and American Horror Story: 1984, I've come to believe you could have a slasher themed on-going series. The new version will take all the flexibility of the original and expand it using Bloat Games The Blackest of Deaths rules as a base.

The game rules will be completed soon, though I want to to make sure I spend plenty of time playtesting and making sure it's as awesome as I think it will be before taking it to Kickstarter.
Expect regular updates. If you have any questions or suggestions, send them our way.

Until then, make sure to abstain from drugs and alcohol, enjoy this JT Music video, and definitely don't have fuck in the woods anytime soon.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we now have a webstore, so if you missed out on getting a print copy of Cade's Big Book O' Booze,  you can snag one there.

October Horror Movie Challenge - Pool Party Massacre (2017)

Like most of the films I watch for the challenge, this is free to watch movie on Tubi. I've reviewed this flick a few times, so this will sound really familiar if you've followed the blog for a while.

What started out as a relaxing summer day by the pool for a group of high maintenance young socialites quickly becomes a nightmare when an unknown killer begins stalking and murdering them one by one.

If you are a fan of 80's slasher movies, then this has everything you need. The flick has a plethora of gorgeous ladies, including a funny cameo by Leeanna Vamp. The are bare breasts and some really nice asses, which is a slasher staple. The slasher uses a variety of tools, which keeps things interesting and bloody. There's also a ton of humor in this flick. The cast have some great lines and I think Clay steals every scene he's in. The plot is simple enough, but has some nice twists and things to keep it fresh. The director, Drew Marvick, has a love of slashers and horror and it shows in this movie. ad, not the movies.

The actor that plays Troy is my old friend, Mark Justice. He had a special screening of this one back in my hometown a few years ago. Recently having a successful fundraising campaign, a sequel has officially been announced!

In Your Game: If you want stats for Slashers and Victims go here. If you want the stats for Survive This!!, check out this post. I needed something new though, so I decided to give the stats for using a severed head as a weapon.
Severed Head
Cost: Prison time?
Damage: 1d6 or 1d6+1 (if head is wearing ball gag)

New To Me Movies Watched: 6
Total Movies Watched: 12

Free RPG 2 Is Live!

All month long there are great things going on over at Exalted Funeral. The entire store is on sale, with everything being at least 15% off. In addition, Matt is hosting Free RPG 2. Not able to participate in Free RPG Day? Exalted Funeral has your back with the best of the indie scene! If you make orders this month you can snag two of the free releases in print.  [Looks like I'm a little slow, they sold out in the first hour] Not planning on ordering? They've still got you covered. You can go here and add all sixteen of the Free RPG 2 submissions in pdf form for free!

I've downloaded all of them and there are fantastic, bizarre, and fantastically bizarre submissions. I love them. These are my favorite:

Slashers & Victims - okay this one is cheating because it's The Lone Bards release, but seriously, it's a print and play slasher game... what more could you want?

The Man of Many Mothers - This twisted system neutral adventure involves a constantly reborn evil tied to the mystic land of the unborn and a dark coven of witches. This one is definitely fucked up, but is wonderful at the same time. If you're a fan of witches and such, you'll want to read this.

Halflings and the Hive - Another twisted system neutral adventure, this one involves a halfling village near a giant hive of extra dimensional bees. There are different factions and other aspects to customize encounters and it seems like a great community to drop into your game.
