Fortnite - Last Resort

Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 4 launched today and I'm excited. It seems to be a throwback to the spy themed season. Check out the trailer.

The main antagonist is a vampire named Kado Thorn. This season also includes Ahsoka and TikTok star (and meme) Khaby Lame.

Ewok Hunt

I know Ewoks look like cute teddy bears, but they are ferocious hunters that eat other sentients. Yes they helped they rebels in Return of the Jedi and took on Stormtroopers and Scout Troopers... but they probably also ate those troopers. I'm sure it was terrifying. This short film explores that.

Lightsaber Fights According to Jedi Survivor

While I've not played Jedi Survivor, I have played its precursor, Jedi Fallen Order. This is pretty accurate and funny.

Always

I remember hearing about this when it was released four years ago, but didn’t watch it. Now that I’ve seen all the flicks I thought I’d check it out.

Going to be honest. It is so beautiful it brought tears to my eyes.

This Is The Way

I had a long winded post typed out and then deleted it. Decided to keep it simple. I've been a life long Star Wars fan, but the toxic nature of folks online post The Force Awakens caused burnout and made me avoid most things Star Wars after Rogue One. Last year I watched Solo with my bff and enjoyed it. After talking with her and some other friends, I've decided that I'm ready to ignore the hate and just enjoy Star Wars because it's awesome.

Since this past weekend I've watched The Last Jedi, Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian Seasons 1 and 2, and most of The Book of Boba Fett. I've also started playing Jedi: Fallen Order on my PS5. I'm loving every second!

I broke out my Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars books and am trying to figure out how to run a game. I'm 2.5 hours away from my of my friends and not sure how well an online game would do since the game doesn't have pdfs and is an unfamiliar system for everyone else. I'm sure I'll figure something out.

I guess I still rambled there a bit, but I just wanted to say my love of Star Wars is back and it's stronger than ever.

You Underestimate The Power Of The Battle Pass.

I know some folks hate all of the crossover things companies do with Fortnite, but as you've probably guessed based on my posts, I am not some folks. Darth Vader is a part of the newest Battle Pass and this short teaser animation recreates the beginning of one of the most frightening and tense scenes of the Star Wars flicks.

Looks like my dudes Jonesy and Peely are boned...

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3

It looks like after the intense battle stories and intrigue that started Chapter 3, Season 3 of Fortnite is going to be more laid back and fun oriented. The end of the Cinematic Trailer does show a mysterious figure watching. I assume it’s the head of the Imagined Order, Geno. As always there are are a couple of outside universe characters showing up in the Battle Pass. This time we get Darth Vader and Indiana Jones.

I absolutely love the Battle Pass skins this season. Looking forward unlocking them all.

Music Monday - Rise Up

It took me a while to warm up to Ahsoka, but she became a great character. Check out this JT Music tribute.

Daicon III and IV Openings

Earlier today my friend shared these short films with me. Originally they released as two anime 8 minute 8 mm films produced for Daicon III and Daicon IV conventions in 1981 and 1983. They were animated by Daicon Film, which would later become the anime studio Gainax.  This version of the video has been graphically enhanced. It is full of geek references and you need to check it out.

My personal favorite parts are her being chased by Kaiju, flying around on Elric's blade Stormbringer, fighting Darth Vader, and the Xenomorph wielding Discovery One as a weapon.

Create Your Own Stories In A Galaxy Far, Far Away

I've read nothing but praise for Disney +'s The Mandalorian and I know it's got a lot of folks wanting to roll some dice and make their own Star Wars adventures. If you're going to do so (and don't already have them), I recommend downloading White Star and the White Star Companion (both of which are pay what you want) and snagging this awesome custom character sheet created by David Okum.  While you're at it, considering backing David's patreon.

Running A Star Wars Game On The Cheap

I realize that most of the folks that come here are OSR types, but you never know. This post is here to give you the ability to run a Star Wars table top for free (minus the cost of dice). First you need to grab White Star: White Box Science Fiction Roleplaying. This game is really all you need. It has all the rules and honestly you could stop here. All of the classes cover your main types of characters in an SW game. The gifts and meditations for the Star Knight and Alien Mystic are obvious Force equivalents. White Star Companion adds some classic Star Wars inspired goodness with it's bounty hunter class. It also includes the Yabnab would make a perfect ewok... and everyone loves ewoks, right? I can think of one more free White Star resource you could add to this mix. Yesterday I mentioned The Space Monkey Player Character. This is a fun little class that adds some alien variety and fits well into the Star Wars universe.

Scruffy Nerf Herders

My party finished Curse of Strahd (abridged edition) last session so as I promised them we would, we gave Fantasy Flight's Star Wars rpg's a spin. I ran the Edge of the Empire Beginner Game adventure for them and we had a lot of fun.

The guys' main rpg experience with D&D 5E (though one player has also played 1e when he was younger and another has played Pathfinder online). Fantasy Flight's system feels very different. Sure ultimately it's a make believe game with funny dice, but it plays very different. The guys really loved the improv story elements of the game (which you get from rolling advantages and triumphs). One of the coolest moments of the night was when the party was being pursued by two groups of stormtroopers and a player used his advantage and triumph to cause a nerf herd to stampede and block one of the groups.

This is definitely a system I want use again. Remy said it's one that he feels comfortable enough to run, so I might actually get to be on the player side for once.  That would be amazing.

Has anyone else taken Edge of Empire, Age of Rebellion, or Force and Destiny out for a spin?

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (No Spoilers)

I watched Rogue One: A Star Wars Story yesterday and it was fantastic. It stood well on it's own, but also provides greater perspective into the Star Wars Universe. If you ever wanted to see a true Star Wars war movie, this is for you. From a gaming perspective Rogue One is proof that you can still have a meaningful story set in an existing setting with extremely popular and established characters.

Ever played in a Star Wars game? If so, what was the system and what did you think of it?
