Give Me Fuel, Give Me Fire...

Though I'm sure no one is complaining, it's been a while since I've talked about Fortnite on here. I still play daily and I'm enjoying the new season (though it's really changed how the game is played). While the last season focused on the Greek gods, this one has a wasteland theme. There are also collaborations with Fallout and Marvel (which I believe is going to be the focus of the next season). Watch the trailer and then check out the new 5e magic item I've statted out based on one of the new consumables.

Nitro Splash (Potion, Rare)

Harvested from the wasteland that has formed on the Island and possibly connected to Pandora's Box, this potion energizes those it touches.  Nitro Splash increases its user's speed by 10', and grants them a charge attack that does 1d4 bludgeoning damage and they gain the Siege Monster trait (they deal double damage to buildings and objects). Additionally, they can move across liquid surfaces as if under the effects of a Water Walk spell. While under the effects the users feat seemed to be wreathes ethereal flames. The benefits of Nitro Splash last for 5 rounds.

If tossed on the ground the splash from a Nitro Splash will affect all creatures within five feet of impact.

This Khaby Lame Fortnite short had me chuckling.

Fortnite - Last Resort

Fortnite Chapter 4, Season 4 launched today and I'm excited. It seems to be a throwback to the spy themed season. Check out the trailer.

The main antagonist is a vampire named Kado Thorn. This season also includes Ahsoka and TikTok star (and meme) Khaby Lame.

All The Glitters...

I haven't statted any Fortnite characters out in a while so I thought I'd stat out a major player in the games narrative. Midas is a master of espionage and has formed multiple covert organizations. He has served as an antagonist in Fortnite during multiple seasons. You could introduce him into your game as  a big bad or perhaps he recruits the players to his newest organization.

Code Name: Midas
Real Name: //Redacted//
Team Affiliations: Shadow, Ghost, Midas' Crew

Medium Humanoid, Lawful Neutral

Armor Class: 14 (Dexterity)
Hit Points: 125
Speed: 30 ft.
Challenge: 5 (1,800 XP)

Str 14 (+1) Dex 18(+4) Con 13 (+1) Int 16 (+3) Wis 16 (+3) Cha 18 (+4)

Saving Throws: Dex +7, Cha +7
Skills: Advanced Technology +4, Deception +7 Insight +6,  Investigation +4, Perception +6,  Persuasion +7
Senses: passive Perception 16
Languages: English, Latin

Unique Traits
Cunning Action: On each of his turns, Midas can use a bonus action to take the Dash, Engage, or Hide action.
Curse of the Golden Touch. Any nonmagical item or creature that Midas touches turns to gold. If the target is a creature, it must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature magically begins to turn to gold and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends. On a failure, the creature is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.

Actions
Mutliattack: Midas gets two attacks.
Pistol: Ranged Weapon Attack: +7 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d6+3) piercing damage
Golden Touch. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: The target must succeed on a DC 13 saving throw against being turned to gold. On a failed save, the creature begins to turn and is restrained. It must repeat the saving throw at the end of its next turn. On a success, the effect ends. On a failure, the creature is petrified until freed by the greater restoration spell or other magic.

Fortnite Mega

The previous Fortnite season was medieval themed and the new one feels very cyberpunk. I’m down for that because this looks cool. Also looks like there is an Attack on Titan crossover, which is cool.

Nick Peely, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I've had an idea for a piece of crossover art for a while. Inspired by the Agent Peely skin, I wanted to combine my favorite Fortnite character, Peely, with classic Nick Fury. Recently my friend, Travis Herman, opened up his schedule for commissions. I originally wanted the sketch on a SHIELD Sketch Cover comic, but this Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars cover also seemed pretty appropriate (and my comic shop, Super-Fly Comics & Games had it in stock). I asked him to combine Peely with cover Steranko's iconic Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. #4. He really did a phenomenal job of paying homage to that cover, but also adding some nice details. For example the battle bus in the background with loopers diving is *chef's kiss*.

I'm also going to take this time to plug some of the game content I've created based on Fortnite.

Expect new Fortnite content reasonably soon because I need to review the Fortnite x Marvel: Zero War miniseries.

The Fortnite Food Pyramid Is Creepy AF

I was browsing YouTube and saw this short from the official Fortnite YouTube channel. You can’t eat Peely! Okay, I mean his best friend, Jonesy did make him a smoothie at one point, but he got better.

Note the link plays the video from another channel, but I copied it from the official Fortnite one.

Fortnite: Paradise

Fortnite’s last season was super chill and all about vibing. That was a nice change from the previous chapter’s war for the island. Now a new threat has appeared and in the season cinematic takes out two of the Seven.

I love that the Paradigm, the previously missing and thought traitorous member of the Seven is taking lead. The new villain, the Herald, looks cool too. She’s giving me Cube Queen vibes. Looking forward to learning more about the Chrome.

The new battle pass looks fun. I’m always down for my comic crossovers and Ghost-Spider/Spider-Gwen is a great addition. Also loving the Meowcles variant, Meow Skulls.

I recently picked most of the new Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War series. Once I get the last issue, I’ll review it and make some new 5e gaming content.

Every Hero Needs The Right Equipment

Wanted to share some cool items created by JaamesPerrett. They are designed for D&D, but relatively edition neutral.

You can see my take on the Boogie Bomb here and here.

I would also say Mjolnir gives a +2 bonus to hit and damage rolls.

You Underestimate The Power Of The Battle Pass.

I know some folks hate all of the crossover things companies do with Fortnite, but as you've probably guessed based on my posts, I am not some folks. Darth Vader is a part of the newest Battle Pass and this short teaser animation recreates the beginning of one of the most frightening and tense scenes of the Star Wars flicks.

Looks like my dudes Jonesy and Peely are boned...

Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point and Foundation Review

Batman/Fornite: Zeropoint was a six issue miniseries released by DC Comics in 2021. The story begins with a strange crack in the sky that is a portal to the island setting of Fortnite. Batman find himself mutant and without his memories, fighting in an infinite loop. While his memory is wiped each loop, his battle damage and muscle memory sticks with him. He finds Catwoman and feels a connection to her. To make progress, he writes messages on his gear, much like the protagonist of Momento. During this time a mysterious group, revealed to be Dr. Slone and IO, watching him and sending forces against him. He fights various characters and even goes toe to toe with Snakeyes of G.I. Joe! Eventually Batman and Catwoman break out of the Loop and team up with Deathstroke and several Loopers (Fortnite characters), find the ZeroPoint and eventually make it back to their realities. The end of the story is rather sad because Catwoman and Batman remember their history, and Catwoman resentfully leaves Bruce again. The last big reveal is that Dr. Slone has joined up with Lex Luthor and the Batman Who Laughs for some nefarious purpose. This leads us into the one-shot, Batman/Fortnite: Foundation.

Batman/Fortnite: Foundation begins with the Justice League trying to stop Lex Luthor and a large group of villains from entering a portal similar to what Batman entered in the previous miniseries. In Gotham City a mysterious figure crashes into the harbor. Batman finds this armored metahuman, who calls himself the Foundation. After fighting and realizing they have a mutual foe, they team up to stop the Batman Who Laughs and the villains. The story ends with Foundation and the Batman Who Laughs fighting in the Zeropoint. It seems that the Batman Who Laughs has lost his memory and Foundation (who is voiced by and looks like Dwayne the Rock Johnson in armor) leaves him to battle the other Loopers, thinking he's not a threat. The final pages reveal that because of his Nth metal crown, the Batman Who Laughs retains his memories and getting to the Zeropoint was his plan all along.

As a fan of Fortinte and DC Comics, I really enjoyed this crossover. It made the weird Battle Royale nature of the game make sense in continuity to the DC universe. Also, as far as I can tell it is officially in the greater DC omniverse and these stories are cannon. The art is great and the characters are fun. I will say there is a serious tone in the comics that doesn't fit the greatest with Fortnite at times (like Fishstick's death or the Batman Who Laughs headbutting Tomatohead and seeing his head explode), but ultimately it works.

Since the Batman Who Laughs is one of the big bads of the series, I decided to give him 5e stats.

Code Name: The Batman Who Laughs
Real Name: Bruce Wayne

I'm Guessing They Don't Go Snikt

Just sharing this because of my boy, Peely. I really wish that would have been an emote for him. And a reminder that I have more 5e Fortnite inspired content.

Fortnite Chapter 3, Season 3

It looks like after the intense battle stories and intrigue that started Chapter 3, Season 3 of Fortnite is going to be more laid back and fun oriented. The end of the Cinematic Trailer does show a mysterious figure watching. I assume it’s the head of the Imagined Order, Geno. As always there are are a couple of outside universe characters showing up in the Battle Pass. This time we get Darth Vader and Indiana Jones.

I absolutely love the Battle Pass skins this season. Looking forward unlocking them all.

Fortnite Chapter 3: Season 2 Finale Teaser

This is going to be cool.

The Many Faces of Jonesy

While technically the Looper (whatever character you play as) is the primary protagonist of Fortnite's story, Jonesy is the deuteragonist of the story.

Code Name: Jonesy the First
Real Name: John "Jonesy" Jones
Team Affiliations: Imagined Order (formerly), The Seven (ally), The Joneses

Medium Humanoid, Neutral Good

Armor Class: 12 (Dexterity)

Background

Agent John "Jonesy" Jones (also simply known as Jones) is a former high ranking member of the Imagined Order and served under the command of Doctor Slone. However, disagreeing with Sloan, he betrayed IO and freed the Foundation and the Seven in order to save Reality Zero. Due to the nature of the Loop, there are many variations of Jonesy (known as snapshots), but Agent Jonesy is the original Jonesy, hence is moniker, Jonesy the First. Jonesy is a good natured troubleshooter and truly cares about his friends and allies. He's got a good sense of humor and believes life should be enjoyed. His best friend is Peely (who may nor may not be a snaptshot of Jonesy based on this video).

Fortnite Chapter 3... Story So Far

At the end of Fortnite Chapter 2, the Convergence was stopped, the Cube Queen defeated, and the island was flipped. No the Imagined Order, led by Dr. Sloan, are trying to take over the island. Luckily for the Loopers (aka players), the Seven (not the Justice League or Vought's team) are leading the resistance against them. It gets a lot of hate, but I have a lot of fun with this game and find the lore and idea of the setting fascinating. Based on recent stories, Fortnite is cannon in both the DC and Marvel universes, among many others. Expect more 5e supers content based off the game in the coming weeks.

Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War - Dr. Slone

Marvel is crossing over with Fortnite again in a new miniseries, Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War. In the series Jonesy and some of the heroes of the resistance seek to find a sliver of the Zero Point lost in the 616. They must find it before Dr. Slone and IO get it. Check out the trailer.

I wanted to post some game stats with this, so I give you one of the major villains in the Fortnite story, Dr. Slone. I've also hyperlinked a few previous Fortnite 5e conversions below. Also, if DC and Marvel can crossover with Fortnite, I'm good with the New Punverse being a part of its Omiverse too.

Code Name: Dr. Slone
Real Name: //Redacted//
Team Affiliations: Imagined Order

Medium Humanoid, Lawful Evil

Armor Class: 15 (Battle Armor, Dexterity)
Hit Points: 100

Challenge: 5 (1,800 XP)

Str 12 (+1) Dex 12(+1) Con 12 (+1) Int 22 (+6) Wis 14 (+2) Cha 14 (+2)

Saving Throws: Int +10
Skills: Advanced Technology +10, Insight +6,  Investigation +10,  Mathematics +10, Parapsychology +10
Senses: passive Perception 12

Unique Traits
Cunning Action: On each of her turns, Dr. Slone can use a bonus action to take the Dash, Engage, or Hide action.

Actions
Mutliattack: Dr. Slone gets two attacks.
Battle Rifle: Ranged Weapon Attack. +6 to hit, range 90/270 ft., one target, Hit: 15 (3d8+2) piercing damage. (30 round clip)
IO Blade: Melee Weapon Attack. +5 to hit, reach 5 ft, one target, Hit: 5 (1d8+1) slashing damage.
Clone: Dr. Slone can create two Slone Clones. These clones are copies share the same stats as Doctor Slone except they start with 50 hit points and do not have the Clone action. They stay in existence until reduced to 0 hit points or 1 minute has passed. They also cease to exist if Slone is reduced to 0 hit points or incapacitated. Slone can only have two Slone Clones in existence at a time.

Background
Dr. Slone is a high ranking (possibly leader) of the Imagined Order, an ancient organization tied to the Ominversal nexus known as The Loop. They are opposed by loopers known as The Resistance (who's membership includes the debonair Agent Peely). Dr. Slone is intelligent, ruthless, and not above working with villains such as Lex Luthor or the Batman Who Laughs to achieve her goals. While in the field, Slone often carries several pieces of advanced tech, such as Boogie Bombs.

Fortnite Invasion

The new season trailer dropped for Fortnite and it involves aliens.

A certain Kryptonian can be seen in his secret identity, so maybe I wasn't as off as I thought when I posted this. Could there be a Justice League angle coming to Fortnite? There are some nice homages to classic alien flicks in the trailer and Rick Sanchez. Based on the design of the ship, I also think Braniac is going to be a big bad later on.

This season might provide some good inspiration for more 5e supers content based on the game. I'm sure Peely and the Boogie Bomb could use some company.
