The game that sticks the most with me is the Veritable Conglomeration of Badasses. Technically this was just one game. One of the early games Wirty, Chad, and I had involved my first D&D character, Will, meeting Wirty's prismatic dragon (created using Council of Wyrms). Both had flying ships and worked together. We had other characters that we played, but it always came back to those characters and their ships. New characters would be created and they would end up joining up with the crew. There were humans, dwarves, drow, saurials, and even Storath's adopted son, my thri-kreen Karn. At some point, we started referring to the group as the Veritable Conglomeration of Badasses. Eventually Storath ascended to godhood and we went into the next generation. My favorite character from that time was Ulic Razorwing, Will's son. Ulic is one of my all-time favorite D&D characters and was the inspiration for the Wandering Nephil. Below is some Ulic artwork. The first two pieces were done by my little brother, Devan. The last was done by one of my dearest friends, Amber.

The Wandering Nephil II (5e)
Time to update one of my characters and add him to the New Punverse. He has some Mary Sue elements, but he's a character that's lived in my head for years.

Character Creation Challenge - Day 10
I statted a character for Carbide City on Day 6. However, since then I've received the pdf for Carbide City #2. For that reason I'm going to make a character using one of the new archetypes. While this is the first time I've given her stats, this is an old character from my supers mythos.

Character Creation Challenge - Day 1
The Character Creation Challenge from TardisCaptain's Blog of Holding is back this year. Last year it was in August, this year he's doing it in January. Last year I tried to use different systems to make stats, this year I'm giving myself that rule. I'm just doing what feels good for the day.
Since I've been focusing on 5e supers, this first character will be created for that. I've been posting about my supers character, the Wandering Nephil, for as long this blog has been around. I've decided to introduce a new character. Today I'm statting out Kid Nephil II, son of Kid Nephil I/Wandering Nephil II. While the first and second Wandering Nephil's were based on me, Kid Nephil II is somewhat based on my son, Grayson. I think I can create him by making him an (modified) aasimar paladin. I'm creating him as a level 1 character, but if you're curious at 3rd level he will take the Oath of Redemption from Xanathar's Guide to Everything. His attributes were rolled using my Batman d6's. This really doesn't have any bearing on things, just wanted to remind folks they exist. There is a severe lack of superhero themed dice.

SURVIVE THIS!! Vigilante City Villain's Guide Review
The Villain's Guide for Vigilante City is the GM companion to the Core Rules. Like the core book it is totally illustrated by Runehammer and looks phenomenal. The book includes a brief description of Victory City (otherwise known as Vigilante City) and the gangs that call it home. Each of the gang has a cool themed, though my favorite (at least by name) is the 502-Trioxin (a great nod to Return of the Living Dead).
This section is followed by 20 or so pages of information that lets you bring the city alive. There are numerous tables that help you truly flesh things out and build adventures.
A ten or so page description of a subsetting for the game, Anthropomorph Island is presented. This is followed by a starter adventure written by James M. Spahn, entitled Coppers & Robots. It's a fun little romp involving mechanical mayhem and serves as a great example of how an adventure should flow.
This is followed by a bit of talk about the MegaHuman explosion in the setting.
The book ends with lots of new characters, good, bad, and otherwise. There is a large number of characters in the rogues gallery. Most of the characters are unique, there there are some great homages to classic villains like Apocalypes. Vigilante City's one supers team, the Crisis Knights are given stats. This is followed by sample 1st level charactars, stats for generic folk of the city, a bestiary, and templates.
The book ends with community content created by the backers. There's really cool stuff in here. My friend Josh C. has three characters, a snake themed villain, a tribute to Oracle, and a new take on a character from one of our high school games. Tim Knight's Acrobatic Flea gets the VC treatment, though he's known as the Acrobat. He even gets some cool artwork. I have three characters with artwork. The Wandering Nephil was a character I definitely had to include. This version of the character is a small town mutant that want's to use his abilities to make the world a better place. My second edition is the villainous El Bibliotecario Rojo (the Red Librarian), a luchador and collector of the occult. My final addition to the book is Remedy, a knight nurse who seeks to heal the wounds of the city. Though it's not mentioned in the book, he's going to be a member of Avalanche (a group of "snowflakes" that do what they can to fight greed and make the world a better place). Avalanche will be detailed more at a later time.
This is a fantastic GM book and has all of the crunchy and creative inspiration a person needs to run Vigilante City. Combined with the Core Rules and I really think you have the perfect supers game. I really can't wait to have physical copies in my hands.

Ryan Avery is a third generation hero. His grandfather is the archangel, Avarialus, who was notably active on Earth during the 1860's and 70's. His father is the deceased vigilante, The Wandering Nephil, and his mother is the retired (and reformed) villainess, Ms. Direction. He's a young hero and has only recently recieved his mother's blessing to take up the family business. Calling himself Kid Nephil, he dispenses justice and mercy with the help of his father's blade, nicknamed Smiter, and healing abilities.

Mastermind Monday - Etiliox, Imp Trickster
Eti, Imp Sidekick
The imp Etiliox served for a millennia as the chief jester of the demon lord Zast. A clever and patient fiend, he bided his time. A fool in the eyes of his master, he was beneath contempt. This allowed him to gather information on Zast's schemes. The demon lord's plot to overthrow Heaven and Hell with the archangel Neros proved to be the perfect time to make his move.Slipping free of Hell, Etiliox took the form of a coyote and came to the aid of the fallen angel Avarialus. Though the angel had no reason to trust Eti, he went along with his plans anyway, seeing no other option.
Though he's currently working against Hell, Eti is no hero. He's a demon through and through. Still he does find his angelic companion charming. Wings (Flight 2, 8 MPH, wings) - 2 Points
Fiendish Immunities (Immunity - Acid Damage, Aging, Cold Damage, Fire Damage, Poison, Disease) - 18 Points
Fiendish Senses (Senses - Darkvision) - 2 Points
Imp Frame (Shrinking 4 - Innate , Permanent) - 5 Points
Animal Form (Morph 2 - Small animals) - 10 Points
Initiative +1
Claws +5, Close Damage 3

Mastermind Monday - Avarialus, Fallen Gunslinger
This is a character that's been in my head for years, though I've only recently fleshed him out more. Avarialus is the angelic father of Wandering Nephil and grandfather of Kid Nephil. Avarialus is an ancient angelic warrior, however during the mid 19th century he became embroiled in a plot to overthrow Heaven and was turned into a mortal and banished to earth. The stats below represent him during that period. I tried to keep his stats similar to some of the western heroes in the DC Adventures Universe book (such as Batlash). If you want his stats angelic stats just use Wandering Nephil's stats and bump him up a 2 Power Levels.
Also, I have a theme song for Avarialus, Bobaflex - Bury Me With My Guns On.
The gunslinger, Daniel Avery, did not begin his existence as a mortal. A warrior angel of the Hosts, he fought for centuries on the side of truth and justice. This earned him many enemies.During the 1860's these forces conspired with an ambitious archangel, Neros to destroy the warrior. Neros and his demonic allies slaughtered a party of Earthbound angels and framed Avarialus for their murder. For this supposed crime he was stripped of his angelic essence and cast down into the mortal realms (specifically the American southwest).
The fallen angel would not have survived long if not for the intervention of the imp, Eti. The demon (in the form of a coyote), warned the warrior of an ambush planned by demonic rivals (the same rivals that allied with Neros). Eti then lead the man to an ancient angelic relic hidden in the desert. The item, an ancient weapon, took the form of modern weapons when the former angel reached for them, a pair of twin colt revolvers.
With the imp's help, Avarialus (adopting the name Daniel Avery) now wanders the west as a bounty hunter, serving the cause of righteousness, attempting to thwart the earthly schemes of Neros.
Initiative +6
“Veritas and Aequitas” +8, Ranged Damage 5

Uneasy Alliance: Avarialus doesn't trust the imp Eti, but has teamed up with the demon to bring down the demons that caused his fall.

Nostalgia - Avariels
I've played two avariel.
The first (which I used the Complete Book of Elves to create) was Will, the avariel fighter. Yeah I know the name is original. He was a fun character and of all my character's he's the only one to get to level 20 (we didn't cap levels in 2nd edition).
My other avariel was Will's son, Ulic Razorwing. Ulic was first played in 3.0 and later converted over to 3.5. He's a (homebrew stat) avariel fighter/wizard/bladesinger. He is my all time favorite D&D character and when I think about him it is like thinking about an old friend.
My later Mutants and Masterminds characters, the Wandering Nephil and Kid Nephil are basically my supers versions of Will and Ulic.

The Wandering Nephil - M&M 3E
One day I'll write up his tales but here's a bit of background/summary for now:
Nathaniel Avery was raised in a loving home by his mother and stepfather. Born with feathery wings, Nathaniel always knew he was different. As he grew he found that he had the power to heal others, at the cost of his own well being. Inspired by tales of the Liberty and Freedom Leagues, Nathaniel donned a costume and became Kid Angel. After a few years of crime fighting he learned the true nature of his powers and met his father, the self-exiled angel Avarialus. His father gave him his holy blade, which Nathaniel nicknamed "Smiter" and gave him his blessing to continue fighting for those who couldn't fight for themselves.
He changed his costume and started calling himself the Wandering Nephil. He was active during the gritty age of the 80's and, like the Centurion, served as one of the examples of classic heroism in the dark age. Even the most hardened of heroes, couldn't resist his charm. It was during this time that Neph (as his friends started calling him) met the femme fatale, Ms. Direction. The two played a flirtatious game of cat and mouse for a few years, before Neph convinced her to retire from the meta life and settle down with him.
Tragically the Wandering Nephil's life was cut short when a rival kidnapped the now pregnant, Ms. Direction. Neph stopped the villains plan, but his child was killed in the struggle. Using his empathic healing one last time, he gave his life to resurrect his unborn son.
The Wandering Nephil was never a hero in the spotlight, but he was a source of hope in a dark time and those that new him, never forgot him.
Attractive, Inspire, Interpose, Jack-of-all-Trades, Languages (Latin, Hebrew, Enochian), Leadership, Quick Draw, Ritualist
“Smiter” +11, Close Damage 12 (Penetrating 10)
Enemies: Neph’s father, Avarialus, has made many enemies, enemies that have no compunction against taking out their frustration on Neph.
